  1. Kerem Ozcan

    Greetings from Turkey

Hello, my name is Kerem, after using hearing aids for 14 years, I had a cochlear implant surgery. I have been a right ear CI user for 13 years. I have been using Med-el Sonnet 2 for 1 year. Before, I was constantly following the forum. I wanted to rejoin with a membership from scratch. I have mentored many users in my country. I have a YouTube channel. I am shooting promotional videos in Turkish about CI. I am planning to translate into foreign languages soon. I'm 30 years old. and I am single. I started to follow the site closely. I will be pleased to meet you. Thank you for reading.

can't re-connect AudioStream to original Sonnet

Hang in there @Lynda This tech is amazing. Smile. Enjoy streaming! By the way, if you get a second AudioStream music is fantastically amazing in true stereo!

can't re-connect AudioStream to original Sonnet

@Mary BethIf it wasn't for covid & we weren't in different countries - I could kiss you!!! I guess it's true that sometimes the easiest solution is the right one. All this technology is going to be the death of me.

can't re-connect AudioStream to original Sonnet

@Lynda AudioKey2 is only needed the first time to configure the AudioStream. We do not need to use AudioKey 2 after that for streaming to AudioStream. Have you tried turning off your phone’s BT and then turning it back on?

  8. @SKOM and @Jared Charney I played around and found that lots of people with various made for iPhone hearing devices are having the same exact issue. For some turning off/on BT works. For others they need to restart their hearing devices. All are using both iPhone and iPad. This seems to be an Apple hand off issue that is impacting various made for iPhone hearing devices.

  9. Thanks Jared, for your input and relating your `woes` with the AudioStream connectivity issues, and thanks to Marybeth for yours too! I have apple devices and it sounds like you all too, clearly the automatic hand-off,switching is not working like its designed to do. I have spoken to apple some more and they have `escalated` this `problem` ticket to hopefully resolve sometime next week-or at least determine if there is something apple should do- their disability /accessibility/Hearing device department along with the BT software engineers are looking at this. Hi!

@Noelle I have OPUS2 and Rondo 1 too. They sound the same to me. OPUS2 performs better for me when noise is from behind me and it is definitely great with headphones. I use CozyPhones flat speakers with Rondo. They adhere to my Rondo 1 without the headband due to my magnet strength. Great sound quality. Just plug onto a headphone jack. And very inexpensive.

    Hi!

I’m new to hear peers! I’m not new to the world of implants, just never knew this site existed. Anyhow, I have a cochlear implant, it was done nearly 7 years ago after suffering in silence for nearly 25 years. My experience gave me my life and career back! I’m 51 year old mother of three from Ontario who works as a Broadcast Journalist.

Artone 3 Max T neck loop

@Richard G The Artone is a great product for me and I like that it is much less expensive than other options. I wish there was an easy way to deal with warranty issues in the US. I have never used the Amazon extended warranty so I am not familiar with that process. If it works well, it seems to be the way to purchase the Artone at the lowest price and obtaining a 2-3 year warranty. Med-El US now sells the Artone in their webshop. It is priced higher and recently the price increased. But we would deal with the warranty through Med-El US and our CSR if the Artone broke under t

    About Rondo's comparision table

Both Rondo 2 and Rondo 1 have one mic which is omnidirectional. They run ASM 1. Rondo 3 has 2 mics and in many countries is using ASM 3 (In the US it still uses ASM 2 since ASM 3 is not FDA approved yet.) Rondo 3 has an updated computer chip- similar to the one in Sonnet 2. Rondo 1 is the only Rondo that uses disposable batteries. Both Rondo 2 and Rondo 3 have built in rechargeable batteries. Rondo 1 and Rondo 2 have built in telecoils. Rondo 3 uses an attached telecoil adapter. Rondo 3 can use the intermediary connectivity device called AudioLink.

Experience going from Opus 2 to Sonnet 2

@Roy K. I am a Teacher of the Deaf. I have been working with students who have cochlear implants for years. I started losing my hearing at age 13. I received my CIs in 2015. Life changing! I enjoy learning about the tech. Here is a link to my story if you are interested.

Direct streaming through app or AudioLink

Lots of discussions going on about whether the Sonnet 2 can directly stream audio from phones through an app or only streams audio through the AudioLink (like Sonnet 1). Med-El says the AudioKey app communicates directly with Sonnet 2 unlike Sonnet 1 which goes through the AudioLink. Sonnet 2 has a BT connection. So far Med-El is advertising the Sonnet 2 as streaming audio through the AudioLink. The Med-El info on the FCC site mentions direct streaming for Sonnet 2. Maybe that will be in its future. Exciting times for Med-El users.

    Remote

Hi @Mary Beth, SONNET 2 works either with FineTuner Echo and AudioKey, or just with the orginal FineTuner remote. So when you see your audiologist, you can decide which of these options your prefer and they can configure it for you. Kind regards, Mary
