  1. Will do. My wife is getting pretty worked up once again as we count down the days. To be fair we're 5 weeks to our baby as well so it's entirely understandable. I have my pre-op and COVID test tomorrow morning then for some reason (they sprung it on me with no explanation so I plan to ask what it might be for tomorrow) a virtual visit on Thursday morning which I may have to do from the car since I have a meeting at 0900 (actually all day Weds and Thurs so yay...). We are pre-making goodie bags for our neighborhood kids for Halloween since neither of us expect to really be in a position to

  4. Thanks for the choir channel, @Kylie! Also, I meant to say when we were talking about the Artone neckloop that I often leave my office and walk to the printer, in another room while on calls. I can hear, but can't speak, of course, but it's kind of cool to walk into another room and still know what's going on.

  5. A fabulous chat today! We had 10 HP members join in. I love how helpful everyone is sharing their own experiences with CIs and tech and helping each other troubleshoot. Our monthly chats are the best benefit of social media. Friendships and connections worldwide. Stay safe everyone. As discussed, we will schedule a meeting for November and then skip December due to holidays and start back up in January.

    Rondo 3 thoughts

I have spent a lot of time lately pondering which processor to choose as my next processor. I have decided on Rondo 3. Thank you to all of the happy Rondo 2 users for your posts. It really made me consider choosing the Rondo family. Many people who are fortunate to have both Sonnet 1 or 2 and Rondo 2 processors have commented about choosing to use Rondo 2 except in noise where the dual mics of Sonnets are helpful. So many people have chosen this same thing. Now that Rondo 3 has dual mics and uses the same adaptive intelligence as Sonnet 2 (ASM3), it should perform just as well in

  8. @Mary Beth I saw my audiologists Fri and next year I’m due due for my 5 yr upgrade, for my right side but two years later I’m due for the upgrade on left side as we talk it was decided to wait the extra two years and replace both at same time and as we discuss the various options who knows what will be improved on by then or even Rondo 4. My biggest improvement with the hearing test was with understanding with background noise I was so impressed and happy as for a long while I’ve been working on this I could tell I had issues with this and it has been conquered with patience and pers

Thank you @Salik It may be awhile before I get Rondo 3. I prefer to wait until ASM 3 is available here in the US. It has been available in other countries ever since Sonnet 2 was released. I want to experience Rondo 3 the way it was designed to work optimally.... using ASM 3. Although Sonnet 2 also is designed to work with ASM 3, in the US it is using ASM 2 since ASM 3 has not been approved by the FDA yet. Rondo 3 release in the US is expected before the end of the year but it is being released using ASM 2. So I will wait until ASM 3 is released in the

  12. Ahhhh! I asked for this like 2 or 3 years ago when we did that video for the Med El employees to watch 😊 I specifically asked if they could do something like Bluetooth since it wouldn’t drain the battery too much. Omg I’m so excited we are getting this and that they listen to our requests!!!!

Am I missing anyone? Wishing everyone the very best!

  14. Hi @Mary Beth thanks for your question. Great to read that you are excited about AudioStream! The AudioKey 2 app is only necessary for the first configuration of AudioStream and your phone. Afterwards the app is not necessary anymore to use AudioStream and you could still use your fine tune remote control. An audiologist visit would not be necessary for that 😊 However, what is more important if you want to use AudioStream with your SONNETs is your smartphone, here is an extract from our website with more information: “AudioStream can be used as a Made for iPhone

  17. I'll be there. And just as a reminder, my name isn't Bob, it's Matt. Bob Jenkins was an alias I cooked up many years ago (somewhere around 2002) for use online. At one point I even had an email address which was a stylized "Who is Bob Jenkins?" @ whatever site, I think Hotmail when that was still a thing. I changed the name on the particular Google account now though to a phoneticization of my initials. Which probably won't be confusing at all. 😁

  19. Hi @melody. Congrats on your activation. Most of the rehab I did on my own. Just reading aloud to yourself is training to hear with the CI. I found ABCLIX most helpful. Just keep immersing yourself in sound. At first things may sound like gibberish but it certainly gets better!

  27. Well I guess I should bring my thread back around to the front 😁 First, Happy early Hearing Anniversary to @Dave in Pittsburgh & @Valentin & myself 🥳 Time flies when you’re hearing fun!! Second, this Friday I have my audiologist appointment for an extensive hearing test for insurance purposes. I qualified 4 years ago but it needs to be recent. Then next Thursday (10/29) I meet with my surgeon at his Bethesda location for the 2nd CI consult. Who would have thought I’d finally be getting my other ear done...I didn’t!! Stay tuned 🤩

  29. @Megan L.and @Mary Featherston, I cannot agree more on the issue that audiologists have about residual hearing. I think it is safe to say that most people who are eligible for a CI - or not yet eligible, but still wanting one - have little to no concern with what is left, but what they can gain. In my case, I have one dead ear that we do not know yet whether or not is implantable; but we are going along as planned to implant it next thursday, and give it a shot. However, with my other ear, that I believe has moderate sensorineural hearing loss, and is eligible, but only because

Good choice as i m Rondo 2 user for almost 19 months, i think its better to skip on Rondo 2 as you already know there's so many advantages of Rondo 3. Hope you get it soon and update us.

  42. @phobos512 I would get the sonnet 2 too. I’m eligible for an upgrade next year but my Audi said to get 2 Sonnet 2s and then use my sonnet 1 and rondo as backup, save the upgrade. Seems like a good idea. Fingers crossed you don’t have to go in for the big meeting 🤞

  43. Hi @Mary Beth, In case users experience issues with AudioLink we ask them to contact our local MED-EL teams directly. They can take a closer look at the device itself, have information about options in regards to upgrades and updates available in the respective country and are able to offer direct support. As we have noticed that the information that we originally shared in the thread was unclear in regards to this process, we’ve decided to remove it to avoid misunderstanding or misinformation. We apologize for any inconvenience. Kind regards, Barbara

  44. I'm considering going bilateral. It's been my plan since the beginning. I'm just not sure when. I know I'm doing better with speech than when I started. Even with speech in noise. Listening on the HA alone, it's amazing how different it is. By itself, the HA is so muffled, unclear, blurry sounding, and missing a lot in comparison. But, I'm a long way from what I originally expected. I still have trouble separating layered sounds. Music is still a challenge and feels like I'm missing a lot. And some sounds are overwhelming like running water or crinkling paper. It's like what they say abou

    Hi!

Hi all! I'm new to HearPeers (mostly cause I'm terrible about procrastinating). I've been implanted with Med-el on my right ear since August of 2019 and scheduled for surgery on my left ear next month! I have sensorineural hereditary hearing loss. Started wearing hearing aids in 3rd grade. Finally decided last year at 31 years old that hearing aids were no longer benefiting me, and honestly hadn't been in a long time. I hadn't talked on the phone in years, I was starting to seclude myself from social situations, and getting frustrated in my career. Thank GOODNESS I decide

  47. @phobos512 Ooooo that’s rough. I couldn’t imagine going into the office a week after surgery. Maybe they’d consider letting you work remotely the second week? Hope the surgery goes smooth and you have very little dizziness! My first surgery, I was so dizzy I couldn’t walk by myself and I’d throw up majority of the time...🤮 It was only for the first day and half and then I was fine unless I looked at my cell phone or computer - then it started again. So funny you talk about residual/natural hearing! My Audi said to me “if you get the other ear done you have to be ok with letting go o

  50. @phobos512 It seems likeS-vector magnets can align to magnetic fields without needing to actually rotate. I have no idea of how that will play out with CIs. I’m sure we will find out soon enough. I sure wish ASM3 would get FDA approved for Sonnet2 and Rondo 3.
