Two great inspirations. @Megan L. And @Mary Beth  I totally agree. When it comes to music you need to practice. I had to listen to new songs or songs I hadn’t heard for a while at least three times before they starrted to sound good. Right now I’m using audiobooks. Love them. ( if I’m repeating myself LOL it’s  because I have to tell myself the same thing!)

Here's a kind of mundane sound:  I can now hear my husband putting packing tape on a box from a couple of rooms away.  Lovely sound, packing tape.

@Mary Elgab if you are using transcripts or captions it is actually very beneficial because your brain is learning the sounds of different words and with different accents. I listen with trainscripts too. It’s much too early even for me in my training to not use them. I am working on audiobooks right now with the words to follow along. So don’t be discouraged yet! You’re doing well!!

Today I used the sports headband. Just put it over top of the processor not in the pocket. It was very snug. I use Sonnet by the way.

Thanks. I hope that trend continues. Things always go wrong for me, but I don't want that with this journey.

I heard it’s everyone In the US that gets a new implant system after March 7th of this year. Until availability starts.

Interesting, @Mary Beth - that could be it, a lot of people still sound very whispery unless I also have my hearing aid.  I have to say, I hear really, really well with the combination of hearing aid and CI.  I mean, compared to what I've been used to, which is nothing from the right ear and not enough from the left.  I was just on my treadmill and was watching a DVD and the voices were remarkably clear.  I'm hoping it's progress and not just an anomaly.
But I'm sure you're right about the whispers.  My tinnitus has always been ringing sounds, so I'm not used to the whispers or the ocean like @Kara of Canada hears.
I think I'd quite like the ocean to fall asleep to!  In comparison to whispers and ringing anyway.

Good grief, I didn't think of that, @Megan L..  I was looking for some fabric around the house to make one with (and didn't, and it's because I had some nice stretchy stuff that was left over from a project, and I hadn't used it after a year and pitched it, and NOW I want it....). I didn't want to order through the mail and wait.
But I can go to Target tomorrow.  :-)

Like Mary Beth said don’t stress yet. My activation went well. I heard voices as well. But everyone sounds like Donald Duck! This has changed drastically for me even in the short time. I am hearing less muffled voices and more clear speech in my new ear. I have been activated for little over two weeks. It takes time for the brain to adjust to this new way of hearing. I was harder with the first implant. So hang in there. Train hard with single words as well as stories or speeches. I really like listening to TED talks now. Try it out! They have the option to follow the transcript and listen as well. It has really helped my speech comprehension.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your replies! I survived the surgery. They gave me some IV and I knocked out even before they gave me the anesthesia gas  Before I knew it, I was in the waiting room already. Throat has a little bit of bleeding from the intubation, but otherwise all’s good and will be able to go home today

Actually @Mary Beth that doesn’t work either. My Audi tried both. He old one and the new one she ordered. Both didn’t work. So I’m getting a third one. She even tried one she had in the clinic it worked fine. So who knows. Hope others don’t have this issue.

Use it if you need it. Train 2-3 hours a day. Without the HA. Otherwise your new ear will pick up. That’s how I did it. Also I wore my CI only for about two hours a day. Right at the beginning of the day. Suggested by my Audi. Keep up the good work. ?
