  1. Ahhhh! I asked for this like 2 or 3 years ago when we did that video for the Med El employees to watch 😊 I specifically asked if they could do something like Bluetooth since it wouldn’t drain the battery too much. Omg I’m so excited we are getting this and that they listen to our requests!!!!
  2. @tmscarlett10 Its an exciting time! You should be excited 😊 Yes this website has so many great and helpful topics that you may not get any where else. The people are awesome too! In my opinion, it’s therapeutic talking about your experiences good and bad. We all are here to support each other and see everyone do well 😁 At least for me it is. Everyone has limitations and I’m sorry they said that to you. It doesn’t sound very helpful or kind. Just keep doing you and own it 💪😎 Where are you getting implanted?
  3. Missed you all today! Have a great month and stay safe 😁 see you in October!!
  4. Yes!!! Definitely 😁 missed you guys today!
  5. @tmscarlett10 I only considered bimodal! Johns Hopkins - where I was implanted, did my worse ear incase something went wrong then I’d still have a “good ear.” I qualify in my right ear but I happy for now with my HA helping my CI 😁 I’m not in the mindset to go through surgery again. Every time I get off Zoom or a Teams phone call, I say to myself “Thank goodness for my CI! What would I do without it. How could I do without it?!” It’s amazing technology. As for noise - ditto on everything @Mary Beth said! Everyone struggles in noise even the hearing people. Today, I found myself
  6. @tmscarlett10 Welcome to the group!! I am bimodal 😎 It will be 4 years this November I got implanted in my left ear. Best decision but like you I was nervous and excited! Ask us any questions you may have 😁
  7. @Lori m After my surgery, I took one side of my glasses and sunglasses off. It bothered me so much! They were a bit crooked but it was pain free 😁 As for the itching and discomfort - have you talked to your surgeon? For me, my stitches were peeking through the incision and causing some discomfort and I found out about a year ago I’m allergic to bacitracin- the ointment the surgeon prescribed for my scar 🤷‍♀️ After everything was completely healed, the discomfort went away 😁 I hope you are able to find some relief soon!
  8. @Valentin I wear a Fitbit everyday and never had any issues or interference. You can never be too careful when it comes to our CIs! I would probably too use the scale without my processor just to be on the safe side 👍
  9. @Tracey_66 YAY!!! Even after 4 years I’m still amazed when I hear the rain and thunder!! Never gets old. Enjoy 😊
  10. Great seeing everyone!!! Thanks for posting all the links @Mary Beth 😁 Now I can get started on creating a skin for my Sonnet!
  11. @phobos512 Sounds like you’re off to a good start!!! Enjoy the journey and all the WOW moments 😁 It’s a wild one but extremely rewarding! See you on Sunday, looking forward to hearing your update 👍
  12. @Valentin I read about a similar device to what you described above and it sent an electric pulse throughout the body in order to get a reading/calculation 😲 My audiologist said when I first got implanted that an electric pulse could wipe out/erase our MAP. I’m curious to know what Med El moderator says. Good questions!
  13. @phobos512 Haha that’s great! Sounds like you were a hair stylist in a past life 😆 it would be near impossible for me to cut my own hair unless it was all one long length 🧜‍♀️
  14. @Mary Featherston Glad it came out pretty good 👍 practice makes perfect!
  15. @Mary Featherston Nice!!! So much cheaper and obviously safer 😁

    Rondo 3!

@Jewel I hear fine too with the Rondo but wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to keep shifting the receiver between your mouth and ear? If you could just hold it normal and speak into it 😁 My Rondo is too far back and the receiver doesn’t come close enough to my mouth. Maybe one day Med El will figure out a solution to this that doesn’t require constantly shifting the receiver and using an assistive listening device 🤞
  17. @Mary Beth I do the same thing - talk about everything first before I take my ears out. But it never fails! The stylist always has something to ask me mid haircut 🤣 Oh well. This time I won’t know if they ask anything!
  18. Has anyone gotten a haircut yet in this pandemic? I need to go since I’m getting mermaid hair 🧜‍♀️ And I don’t hear anything without my ears and normally I’d lip read but everyone is wearing a mask.... So I’m wondering, how did it go and how did you understand the stylist not being able to lip read?

    Rondo 3!

@Tracey_66 Hopefully you have no rush to use the phone 😁 I didn’t use either phone until after 2 months of activation and it went better than I expected! Sadly, most high tech accessories for our ears are expensive. So strange that your mobile isn’t friends with your Artone 3. Have you tried getting in contact with someone from customer service to help troubleshoot?

    Rondo 3!

@Mary Beth You’re lucky! Your placement allows the Rondo or Sonnet option for the phone. I love that the Rondo is off the ear but the receiver is too far when I hold it to my ear. If we only get one upgrade choice then I have to go with the Sonnet 2 for work reasons. Here’s a picture of my work phone - I’m thinking it’s probably not Bluetooth streamer compatible. I don’t use it much but when I do it’s usually important so I need to know I can be comfortable 😁

    Rondo 3!

@Mary Beth Now you have one more option 😁 I didn’t see any info on when the Rondo 3 would be available, I’m guessing it could be a while?? It looks super thin and high tech 👍 My only problem with the Rondos is using the phone. Where it is placed on my head, it’s too far from the part of the phone you speak into. So it’s not feasible unless using Bluetooth assistive listening devices - which makes it impossible to use at work. Remember when we did those videos for the Med El employees to watch like 2 years ago? I asked if they would expand the range of the telecoil on the Rondo so that it

    Rondo 3!

Oooooooo yay! I’m happy to see all these new processor options 😁 I can have an upgrade in another year and a half!!! @Mary Beth I think I remember you saying you were coming up on 5 years and would be eligible for an upgrade?
  23. @Mary Beth So true! It is a journey not a quick fix. Unfortunately, I think that is the urban legend out there that CIs are a quick fix. I’ve talked to people who were ready to hear better but when they found out that they had to rehab the ear and that sometimes the CI doesn’t work as wanted for up to 2 years, they backed away. Maybe one day those people I talked to will take the leap! I’m thrilled I took the leap and put in the hard work - it’s been so rewarding 😊 and you are right - when the timing is good, I’ll know and have the other ear done 🦻
  24. @Mary Beth I completely agree!! You definitely have to be in the right mindset to get the CI. It’s definitely hard work and I don’t think most people realize that when they firsts start considering a CI. Having a positive, optimistic, patient as well as dedicated personality helps a lot with everything after the surgery, in my opinion. When my parents meet someone who is considering a CI and they want to chat - I always tell them you have to be in the right mindset and commit to it for the desired results. The mindset portion is probably why I haven’t gotten the other ear done 🤷‍♀️ One day ins
