hi Anni it went really well ..I was able to understand speech after a few minutes ..the sound was very robotic as expected but by last night I realized my husband sounded like himself just in a tunnel ..it seems every hour I’m hearing more sounds ..it is so exciting ..

    Hi Jane!
Oh wow! Nice to 'meet' you!  How are you feeling?

I feel like I turned a corner yesterday.  The discomfort was noticeably better and I got a full nights sleep! (I've been on pre and post op Prednisone to try to reduce inflammation and save my residual hearing but it really wasn't agreeing with me and I was only sleeping for about one hour per night the first few nights after my Op so I was feeling terrible from the lack of sleep) but thankfully I've been able to cut down my dose now so things have improved a lot and I'm feeling much more human again

The beeping/buzzing has settled down too and the tinnitus has returned to just the slight soft static I had pre op (thank you again to everyone that replied to this thread - both for your support and encouragement that this would improve! It gave me some hope and peace of mind in those first few days post op when the tinnitus was really difficult!)

How are you feeling Jane? I hope you are recovering well!

I have tinnitus after surgery. These don't disappear after connection.  I have not detected what produces it because it is random.

I forgot one time last Sunday and blew my nose and IMMEDIATELY felt my ear popped I freaked out and was sure I screwed something up but my calm husband calmed me down so I didn't make him call the resident on call like I did the day beforr when my face got more swollen and ear was so numb and they told you to call with any questions and I hadn't found this forum yet!
my initial appointment was supposed to be sept 22 for activation but Audiologist out of town but actually my heads pretty tender I don't mind waiting another week !
i hope all goes well for you I know I'll be on this site for recommendations after activation!

Oh also.. ask your audiologist for advice about which device is best for your individual needs as I know the mapping is slightly different between the behind the ears and the Kanso/Rondos.  My audiologist was very helpful in helping me coming to a decision based on my individual hearing/lifestyle and mapping needs.  Believe it or not, in the end we realised that the MedEl hybrid will fit my ear canal better (I have tiny canals) if I need to use the hybrid, so there are definitely lots of factors to consider!  Overwhelming but a good CI audiologist can be incredibly helpful!

    Hi Nomiroo..

I haven't had my surgery yet so I can't offer you as much help as some other people may be able to, but I just want to wish you the best of luck.  I will also be using the Rondo occasionally  (as well as the behind the ear device) as I regularly train (I'm a sprinter & hurdler).  From what I understand, I will need to wear the sports headband to keep it in place during strenuous activity, but I've recently spoken to a lady who uses the Kanso and she said it stays in place well during normal day to day activity.  I think that I read some Rondo users on here said the same thing - stays in place well for day to day activity (have a look back through the earlier posts maybe).  Wishing you all the best xx

Hi there. I'm user of Rondo. Really I have low knowdledge about other brands.
The only "problem" I have at this moment with  Rondo is use a headset. I know I Quattro or similar devices but I talk about simple headphones because Rondo is not near ear.
I have not practiced sport even with Rondo, but the accesory that Megan comments seems a good choice.
@Anni, if you want, read this interesting MED EL post before your desicion.

Thank you again Megan and Mary Beth!  They are very good points - I didn't actually consider the internal processor, and you're right - the technology does get updated every few years.
