My hearing loss is due to medication used to treat cancer in the 1980s. I have a classic "ski slope" hearing loss with normal low frequencies and minimal high frequency hearing. For over thirty years, I used hearing aids and did well. I had a successful career in higher education. However, in the last 5 years, my hearing ability decreased leading to early retirement. I was evaluated and told that I qualify for a "hybrid cochlear implant". My CI surgery occurred on May 2, 2018 with the Synchrony EAS System.
