That's us!  On Friday I had a dental appointment, and as my dentist is over an hour from my new job I didn't go to work at all - went to the dentist, had lunch with a friend, and then worked from home in the afternoon.  My friend and I had a nice lunch at a Thai place across the street from my dentist's office and then popped into this shop around the corner - it's all dog stuff, treats and toys and beds and whatnot.  We were buying dog treats when a woman there asked me about my CIs, and we ended up talking for almost half an hour.  She was a writer, doing some stuff on contract for Cochlear Americas and just kept asking questions!  And me, I talk, you know?
We talked about the rehab process and what it's been like to be a CI recipient.  I always like to have a chance to talk about what an amazing (but not necessarily easy) thing it is to be a CI recipient.
  2. Thanks

I wish the fine tuner was actually an app on my phone so I don't have to travel with a fine tuner and a mobile phone!
Also the vain part of me would like to see a smaller BTE processor lol!

@Mary Beth thank you. I will visit 5he forum more often. I just started back college full time. Getting used to being g surrounded by so many young people on campus. It's definitely different this time around in my late 40's AND being able to hear and understand and participate in class discussions. I would love to start a blog or article on the differences between now and 30 years ago as a young undergraduate just coming to grips with severe hearing loss. Anyone have any ideas where to submit such an article or blog?

I enjoy meeting other Med-El users in person, especially new friends I have made through social media forums.
Some ways I have been able to meet others so far.....
-I traveled to NC for a Hands On Hearing workshop.  We organized meeting up for dinner the night before.  Great times!
-I travel to NYC for my CI appts.  We organized meeting up for dinner and a group of us from NY and NJ had a great meal together.
-I live in a rural area but there have been a few Med-El Mingle events within a 3 hour radius.  I have attended 2 so far.  It’s great to meet other Med-El users.
-One of the first Med-El users I met traveled a couple of hours from her home to meet up while I was on vacation in Florida.  A fun afternoon on the beach.
Some of these friendships have extended way past our shared CI experiences.  We continue to get together as friends and share good times.
Some dear friends and I are still awaiting our first in person meetings.  I am looking forward to those.
After spending 3 days at the Med-El Meetup last month, I am reminded of how powerful and meaningful these in person meetings can be for us.

I encourage you to reach out to others (through HearPeers or other forums) and meet for coffee or dinner or a walk at a park.

We have a lot to offer each other on our journeys.  I hope you make some lifelong friendships this way too.

And maybe post a picture to share.  ?

As many of you know I have had problems with the Sonnet falling off my ear since activation. . The part that connects to the magnet usually stays put. Only the part that rests on my ear is the problem. It has been two months and it still falls off at least once a day. I have not been able to order the Med-El huggie so I'm not sure how well that works.
Yesterday, I tried out wig tape. This is the second time I'm trying wig tape. The first one was no good, but this one, Topstick, is excellent. It is actually men's grooming tape. I just put a piece on the battery cover as well as the part between the earhook and the battery cover and voilà problem solved! The ear piece stayed put the entire day! I even took off the sonnet for two hours and left the wig tape on and was able to put it back on and it continued to stay put on my ear! I don't think I would put it in the dryer though. So I removed it from the Sonnet before placing the processor into the dryer and I was pleasantly surprised that there was no sticky residue to contend with.
I live on a tropical island and it was hot yesterday so my wig tape passed the test in hot weather so I bet it will do fine for colder weather too.
    I bought Topstick on amazon.

How well the CI works and how it has affected my life and family. I get paid at end of study after a year but I enjoy it. I see the case research leader who tests my word recognition and improvement and I give feed back on what's the same or different at home communicating.

I saw the elf with CIs from a friend.  You choose 1 or 2 CIs, HAs, bimodal etc.
I saw the fabric being used to make toddler jogging pants and asked if I could purchase it in cotton by the yard.  The designer got so many similar requests, she made that happen.

I can play through my sennheiser headphones using a Vox attachment for bass. There is one for guitar too. However i most play through my amplifier and I have a BeatBuddy pedal for drums that  I play along with. The Beat Buddy is the very best tool to enhance practice time, hands-down the very best.
Using my CI bilaterally to listen and play music is so awesome and exhilarating let alone fun. I feel I hear better than I have ever heard. I always thought when I wore HAs that people with CIs had and advantage, now I know why.

My aunt sat wide mouth as I said dis she just say to tell me she wants to go to the store. Lol.  WOW number 2. I was interviewed for a local podcasting on inspiring women. My session was about my cochlear journey and how it has changed my and my family dynamics of communicating.
