The cinema was a chance I was nt planning to go but mum in law had a spare ticket so it was last minute attempt I did nt expect to ear it well I was very happy The bell noise stopped after a few days may of been tired no idea back to Addenbrokes on the 24 th for another programming and rehab. I seem to be missing some quieter noises but picking up louder ones hopefully will get sorted I think I need my last electrode Accitivated.

Have nt been on for a while sorry ,let's see coming up to 6 months Implanted and loving every day ,slightly annoyed at the moment as my right ear has started making a bell noise Which is very annoying might e tinnitus no idea programming soon will ask then Lets see fave things at the moment we to the cinema first time in for years And loved it could hear everything with my t loop on ( saw les mis) Went to the panto at Xmas brilliant still struggling with tv at times And most music but getting there it's great to see so many new people on here. Hope your surgery s activations etc all go great.
  4. Thanks of the reply I have nt been here much lately but my 2nd mapping went very well they turned the volume up quite a bit And put a couple of extra programmes on shoud I need them.we also started telephone training I must admit I was very nervous about what I considered A big step after 4 years of text relay but after a few goes I heard the speech therapist we ran though a few random sernarios and I though I can do this Got home set my ci to t setting and phoned my mum and heard her to say we were both very happy was a understatement I now phone her each day adding a little more conversation each time and its great. I am off to London on Monday for my sons birthday that should be fun
  5. Ok next Monday I am back at Addenbrokes for another mapping I am wondering if they could put a bigger gap in between the programmes from the first mapping I have had four programmes each time ,they had programmed it four times so far and find by the end of the week it is going quiet again I think they are only moving it up a small bit at a time has anyone had it moved up quite a bit on each programme In November I have nt got any appointments and I am wondering if I should ask them for a couple just in case. My brain seems to be ajusting quickly to the ci and I am getting wow moments almost every day but with a month break I am wondering if the voices I can make out may go a bit too quiet again
  6. I have the opus two with comes with a lead that plugs straight into my phone a Samsung ace it also connects to my ipad you however cannot pls your ci straight into anything mains operated it will short out!. As for land line phones I will let you know I am starting telephone training next week And I am starting also to use my t setting on my fine tuner though the shops that use this are few and far between! I have used my mobile to listen and read audio book and it works well Good luck with your surgery Karen
  7. Had a great morning at Addenbrokes after a bad start the trains were delayed and cancelled this morning we phoned emmeline And explained we would be late and they said they would try and see me for a small appointment Got there at 10.50 my appoiment was meant to be at 10 am so did nt think would get much done They had managed to move things about so I not only got full session with speech therapist They also reprogrammed my ci for my I was on number 4 programme again and was nt dur for programming till Next week the speech therapist spoke to the audio and they agreed a week was too long to wait That's three programmeings in a week! Wow Andy the books are great downloading phantom of the opera and others thanks for the link Pass it to emmeline they are doing a list of good apps for ci users and this counts
  8. Thanks for the link I also am using the ipad for them I have the text A app from the store I have download Sherlock Holmes Christmas carol and wizard of oz They sounds fine if a bit monotone at the moment but find them a great help Also using bbciplayer for some programes that sync subtitles they are few and far between I know but they are out there These are a bit harder to listen too but my brain is getting a great workout Sarah I don't know if you have a ipad if so this is better than CDs and books Otherwise use the libary resources Karen
  9. 10. That's great your getting there with it ,and it's normal to be very tired the brain feels if its on overload I can't use hearing aids as they don't work so. Have to lip read people if I don't hear them Thankfully it Is getting easier but I still have to ask hubbie to repeat and voices I m not familiar with Are still a problem ,subtitles can be a nightmare sometimes thy are not synced other omens they are just wrong But some prerecorded programmes the subtitles do match and they are very good rehab, It's great that you are moving up in the settings great feeling is nt your brain is saying hello need more sound here and up ypu go Sounds like your doing great, I don't like taking mine off at night as my world goes silent my residual hearing Is nothing really to speak of and I can't wait to put it back on in the morning, Keep going with the rehab warning about doing audio book with printed word books for some reason these do not always match So someone at the libary otherwise the reader will be saying one thing and your eyes reading another and your poor brain will Get lost! Try and get some rest if possible two kids here so not easy but am trying Karen Ps the background noise should fade in time I am told but gee it's annoying is nt it a/c in cars and buildings music in various places which At he moment kind of sounds like high pitched tin rattling mixed with ringing.
  11. Hiya I sorry you were a bit disappointed with your activation I also m using audiobooks though my processor my audio Gave me earplugs to bung up the other ear so no sound goes though it this works great nd forces my brain to listen to what is being said Lo use it for word practice to hear kids and hubbie I am finding omens voices easier to understand Hubbie sounds like a cyber and son like a darlek and my daughter is a tinny version of Minnie Mouse The noises are still tinny but that will fade I have just been wearing it round house today abc picking up various noises Don't rush it let it come in own time if you do the audio book just o them for 15mins gos I overdid it and ended up in bed wih a viscous Headache,I was allowed to wash hair after 24hours just told not to lift anything heavy. Take your time. Relax and remember the brain has got o sort out all he noises to make sense of them Find noises you like when you get fed up I like to scrunch up paper if it all comes o much tke the Processor off for a while give the brain a rest Take care Karenn
  12. All I can say is wow this is great I never expected to hear so much in one day,boy do we live in a noisy world hehe After another hearing test I was delighted that I still have some hearing in my right ear a little but some I thought it had all gone After hearing the first sounds they started the programming what was to loud etc and gave me four settings to get used to By 10 am I was on setting two at my next appointment I was on three and by the time I got home I was on four More programming tomorrow charging batteries ready to use. Favourite noises so ar scrunched up paper love this ,running water, beeps on train doors and cutting of battered fish hubbie had this for lunch I could nt stop Smiling on hearing it Worse sound bus air brakes eek and train station tannoys Yes the noises are tinny at the moment but I could nt care less I can hear yippee Dances round room
  13. All set for tomorrow I will post back as soon as I can Fingers crossed all goes well. Beeps and tones here I come Non tinitus related ones plz
