  1. Hi Mary Beth. Yes I am. I’ve had it going on seven years and love it. I can only get a new one if this one becomes inoperable. Our government will then pay a portion of the cost of a new processor and Med el will take this one back and reimburse me some of the cost.
  2. I had my last appointment in June with no problem. Usually I book my next appointment while I’m there. I only go yearly though and am from out of town. I didn’t realize there was a shortage.
  3. Hi Wayne. This is Sandy. I just replied to you on Facebook regarding the London hospital. This has been the most fantastic journey for me. It took patience, practice and perseverance (what we call the 3 Ps) but it pays off. I can hear. There’s a section in here called WOW Moments where people post the amazing things they can now hear. Just remember that it’s a marathon not a sprint and requires a lot of work both for you and your support team. Any questions, please ask. Let your journey begin.
  4. Thanks Mary Beth. I too find it tinny when my batteries are about to go. I’ll keep you informed.
  5. I can. I might try recalibration it and see what happens. There are high ceilings in the house so that could be a factor.
  6. It is lovely. I’m leaving on Thursday for Santa Fe and then Phoenix for a month. Yes I’m using the dry kit each night. No I no longer have a warranty.
  7. I’ve been having difficulty with my processor recently. I’m in Florida and the humidity has been high. Sounds are hollow and very loud. Has anyone else experienced this?
  8. Just a quick question. I have he Rondo and am finding that my batteries are lasting considerably longer now that I’m in Florida. Normally, at home in Canada they last three days. Here, I’m wearing them longer during the day and they are lasting up to five days. I haven’t changed the type either. I use Power one batteries. Could it be the humidity?
  9. Hi and welcome. Remember the 3 Ps - practice, patience and perseverance. This is a marathon not a sprint. Make sure you ask what the sounds are that you hear. I was told by my audiologist to keep up the lip reading as it was an extra tool that we have at our disposal. After five years I find that I no longer use it as much. I agree with Mary Beth to wear your processor at all times. It will make a big difference. Good luck and keep us informed.

    Rondo 2 in canada

Does anyone know if the Rondo 2 has been approved and available in Canada. I’ve been off the forum for awhile and have an appointment with my audiologist next month.
  11. I think the only way I can get the Rondo 2 without paying for it myself is if my current processor cannot be repaired. Then part would be paid by our Assisted Devices Program (ADP) and the remainder by me. I will need to talk with my audiologist about it. So far the only benefit I see with the Rondo 2 is not having to buy batteries or using the dry machine. I just had my Rondo replaced. Every time I replaced the batteries it would start beeping as if the batteries had died. And then I would be out somewhere and all of a sudden there would be no sound. My warranty is up in March so it will be in net resting to see how much it will cost to insure it. I checked with my insurance company about having it attached to my house insurance policy but she indicated that it would need to be separate and there were too many instances where there would be no payout if something happened. Once I get the information, I will let you know.
  12. Mary Beth, I'm glad you are enjoying wearing the Rondo. I chose it specifically because I always had problems with my hearing aid and wearing glasses. Sometimes I have to touch it to make sure it's still there. I'm surprised too how much I can hear and pinpoint the direction. I also seem to find that I hear better than some of my hearing friends, especially in noisy situations like restaurants. It will be my five year anniversary next March and I am still amazed at how much I can now hear.
  13. How are you progressing with the earrings, Cara Mia? I was apprehensive to try them because when I had my hearing aid, if they were long dangling ones, all I heard was the sound of them. With the Rondo I have no problem at all.
  14. Thanks Ivana. We will celebrate Cara Mia.
  15. You will find that each day is a new adventure and it just gets better and better.
  16. Good luck Terry. It will be an awesome journey. Let us know how it goes on Friday.
  17. I haven't been on the forum for awhile due to travelling and a couple of medical issues I needed to deal with. My Rondo had to be replaced (thank goodness for the warranty). I would replace the battery and it would work for a couple of seconds and then the low battery indicator would sound and also it would just cut out and no sound. The new one is so good I had to share this moment with you. Your laugh of the day, is what it is. I got in my car, started it and heard this funny sound and thought something was wrong with the engine. I turned the car off and, lo and behold it was the rain pounding on the roof of the car. Thought for the day: If you thought you'd heard everything, you haven't. Enjoy the hearing world! It's awesome?
  18. Congratulations Adam, I just reached my 4th year. It has been an awesome experience. Sandy

    Quattro 4

Thanks Mary Beth, I'll play with it and see what happens. I'll let you know.

    Quattro 4

Hi Mary Beth, yes it was through the car's speaker.
  21. I had it happen in the grocery store at home so I explained it o the lady as she s a candidate for a CI. I told her to email me with any questions and also gave her this site. Adam I totally agree. I'm proud of my CI and take every opportunity to educate people!
  22. It's been awhile. I drove down to Phoenix last week and although I did hear quite a bit on the GPS, it could have been better. Can anyone tell me if the Quattro 4 would help? Thanks, Sandy
