I am delighted to find out that Hearpeers is available in the Tapatalk app. [emoji2]
when I made this proposition about a year ago, I didn't know whether it' s possible or not, but I am pretty sure this will improve readability of the Hearpeers forum. It is much easier to read it in an app than reading small print in a web-browser...

Well, they have just add a direct link toward our forum, but I think - that' s the point; not separating us than connecting us. If there is possibility to add sort of translation service like in FB where almost any language can be translated into a domicile one.... This would be great... [emoji1]

    Italian...

Well, I have never learnt it (sorry MB [emoji4]), but some elementary level is pretty much understandable - not too fast, more like sort of song... Inspite of that, it is pretty understandable language for a person like me...

    Cara
congratulations on going bilateral! Like you, I am bilateral sequential. I also was encouraged to only use the 2nd ear to give it a chance to catch up.
once I started wearing both processors on a regular basis, I just continued with the same rehab. I did practice more on sound localization. Other than that, business as usual. I just hear everything in stereo

Thank you, Ivana. I did not expect to get that good result so fast. Just lucky that happened.
Now wandering if my new ear is going to outperform the old one and my hearing becomes unbalanced again. Don't want to loose my ability to localize the sounds and I like to hear the stereo effect

Thank you for advise, Mary Beth. Will look for the articles of that authors. Like you said, I was told to train my new ear alone until it catches up with my old one. But that has happened almost right after activation. So, I look for the better way to keep both my ears stimulated to keep my brain working in full force hoping that there is still even more to get with my both CIs. I know, I sound like a greedy person
I think that my ears are quite balanced. I have stereo effect, can localize the direction of the sounds and even predict the moment at which sound objects reach some specific point. But it came so fast and easy so I am not sure that I can rest on laurels. Maybe I don't understand something and don't do what can be helpful. Just got used to work harder to get any result  By the way, my last mapping is not working good for me. Now I cannot understand speech from the distance more that 10 feet. And  music is not for me after that. Playing with sensitivity doesn't help at all. Going to schedule an appointment with my audi to fix it. I forgot already how it is grim to struggle with speech understanding.

    Mary Beth,

Thank you. I understood your explanation about how EAS works. Just have no chance to try is as it should be - no Rondo, not possible to reprogram my HA... So, I just tried to figure out how acoustic and electric stimulation feels. Honestly, didn't get much
Already said "bye" to my HA. Believe or not, even didn't feel a bit of sadness when donated it. I know, that was unfair of me but...

    Cara,

I'm not sure if this is an option, but in case it is.....
I read reports of CI users wearing a Rondo and a HA on the same side to get the benefit from the acoustic and electrical input simultaneously.  If you have a Rondo and a HA and your audiologist is willing to do this......she could set your HA for low frequency acoustic Input only and set a MAP on your Rondo for the rest of the range.  Then you may be able to experience what hybrid input would sound like.

Renee Gifford also published articles about fitting CI users with ITE HA on the same side and setting the HA for bass sounds and CI for the rest.

I definitely understand not wanting to deal with an earmold again.  It would have to be worth the hassle.  Maybe this would give you a way to test it out a bit.  Just a thought.

I was implanted at Virginia Mason in Seattle. My both electrode arrays are the flex 28.
I was able to use my new implanted CI independently to communicate at work in 10 days after activation. But it was the ear that had some residual hearing before surgery. And it takes much  more time for my another ear to be reliable in the different communication settings. But that my ear didn't process any sounds for about 10 years. Never regret my decision to go with CI. Now need to read more about EAS, as yesterday, after my first testing (1 month post-activation) I was told that the amount of my residual hearing I have left after surgery makes me a possible candidate for EAS.

One giant step for me, but a minor for humanity!  - to paraphrase the famous sentence...:) - I went through the first phase of the bilateral outer ear reconstruction. This is one of the most important reasons why I have waited with a second implant: unfortunately, there is a sequence what comes before and what after....
Mary Beth and Adam followed me on that road by messaging me and supported me online.. Who could not wish such a thoughtful friends?

    Hi,
It depends on - neuroplasticity. More you exercise, things will sound more natural. The aural rehabilitation is one of key element to succeed in your strive.

I agree - recently I read how Einstein wrote his theory of relativity when he had more than enough of his time after he finished his duties in the patent office.
I am much more modest - a good chat and fun is more than enough...;)

Great! - For some interesting reason, I find it for a crumble better than Power One. Why, their battery power is almost at maximum up to the end of their power which is extremely good. With Power One, I hear from the start of the last day that something is wrong - voices are not so strong...
