  1. The last 2 mapping has been a bit of a struggle because my audiologist increased my high pitches higher. I am not use to it (which is normal for most deaf/HoH that got CI). Having conversation with women/little girl that have high pitch is a bit of a struggle. My audiologist increased my low quite a bit, my high a little bit, and my overall volume up to about maybe 10% base on my audiogram (she want it in the 30-40 range)....IT'S LOUD...but the test result shows that I improved. Before my last mapping It was 10% words both ears (39% phonemes), 2% words Right ear (34% phonemes), and 8% words Le
  2. Wow, it has been way to long since the last time I check out HearPeers. I saw on MED-EL group on FB this morning that FDA has APPROVED SONNET and WaterWare for RONDO! FINALLY!!! But...it will not go on sale until Spring of 2015. It cost around $9,600 or maybe up to 25% discount for trade in with your current processors (Opus 2, etc). I was reading comments that some people got Voucher (free upgrade for future processor if they don't want RONDO or something like that) starting back in September 2014. I had double surgery back in June 4th, 2014 and activated both RONDOs on the 18th. Before I
  3. Hey, glad you're ok from the accident. How are you and how did the surgery go?
  4. Here's the link: http://www.medel.com/int/eas-hearing-implant-system/ As far as I know, FDA has not approve it in USA yet. Still waiting on Sonnet.
  5. Bob, I asked my Audi the same question and this is her respond: "Hi Joe, In looking at the website, it looks like Synchrony is the name of the new internal device, and Sonnet is the name of the new processor. It looks like the only difference between your internals and the new one is that with the new one you can have up to a 3.0 Tesla MRI. With your implants, you can have up to 1.5, which is standard for MRIs anyway. Everything else looks to be the same. When you come for your activation this afternoon, we will go ahead and activate the Rondo processors, but we will hold on to th
  6. Hello Bob, I will try my best to help you out. I have done a lot of researches on 3 companies for a little over 3 years. My hearing using H.A. has not improve since I got one of the most powerful HA (Phonak Naida V UP) in the market 5 years ago. Last month my surgeon changed my implant from Cochlear to MED EL (per request by my neuologist). I asked many questions the past couple weeks on Hearpeers and with my audiologist. Here is one of the email that I like to share with you: "Hi Joe, I did hear that Dr. Haynes recommended MED-EL, and I think that is a wise choice if you will b
  7. I need to share with you all about what happen yesterday. At one of the gas stations as I was paying for my drink a cashier asked me if that was a new Bluetooth. I was confused what she was talking about so she pointed at her head where my Rondos at. I can't help it but smiled at her and explain to her what it was. She was kinda embarrassed. I smiled not because it was a "blonde" question it was because she, a stranger, was brave enough to ask and that made me happy. I thought it was funny when she thought it was a new Bluetooth and that made me feel like I'm cool dude. I know we all grew up t
  8. Anita, Have you been working with her and rewarding her for her hard work? I remember when I was young that I HATED going to speech therapy because I was force to learn to say the "R" correctly or the "L" or the "S" and so on. It was so frustrated but you know what in the long run it was worth it. I had Speech Therapy for 7 years and my mother has been helping me too. Some people did not noticed I was wearing hearing aids because I could "hear" so well and speak so well. I've been wearing hearing aids since I was about 2 years old. I'm a great lip reader so it does make a big different.
  9. Hello Reva, I will try my best to help you out. I have done a lot of researches on 3 companies for a little over 3 years. 10. David, I brought the Si Robertson custom that I'm going to wear at the church camp in couple weeks. It's a Red Neck theme weekend. When I put on the cap it kept pushing the Rondos off. What I did was loosen the cap and go over the Rondo halfway. It's a bit uncomfortable at first but I got use to it. It's a small cap so maybe yours is bigger and can go over the Rondo completely. Be careful about the sweat inside the cap. Joe
  11. Hi David, I think that you will like your Rondo. I like it. As matter of fact, it's actually my first CI processors. I was activated June 18, 2014 with Rondos. I refuse to open Opus 2 kits. I am actually looking forward to the new BTE Sonnet. The only con I have with Rondos is the magnet, even #4, is not strong enough to stay on my head and it constantly falling off. Every now and then I have to wear head band to keep it on. Hopefully you will not have any problems. Good Luck. Joe
  12. Judy, After reading you post you reminded me a lot about my step mom. Like Lisa said, your granddaughter is very blessed to have a great loving caregiver like you. I do not feel that she has lost so much because she has you. My step mom came into my life when I was 2 ½ years old. She would get up very early in the morning to clean house and get it done before I wake up. She would play with me and sometimes she would “home school” with me. We would play a game like putting shapes into buckets and before I can put the shape in I have to read her lips and respond back to what I think she sa
  13. Judy, WOW! I can't believe what I was reading. Both implants failed!?!?!? I would be screaming on top of my head too!!! Now that her implants has been replaced are they working? I am wearing #4 magnet on my Rondos and it's not strong enough for me yet. I just recently had surgery on both side on June 4th, 2014. I can tell over time that it's getting stronger to hold on to the implants. I only been wearing Rondos for 2 weeks now and each day I'm hearing more and more beautiful sounds (I was activated on both side on June 18th, 2014). I am responsible for Safety at my job and I have to do th
  14. I'm thinking of doing Program 1 everyday use 2 for louder graph 3 for either louder or noise situation that may be useful for my job and 4 for FPS for music. I've been switching 1-4 and adjusting volume all day trying to figure out the best comfort. Some situation is more comfortable than others and I switch a lot. I think I'm killing the batteries when I do that LOL. I post my Hearing Journey on FB daily so if you want to read it you can add me as your friend www.facebook.com/blumunkey1982. You are more than welcome to share in my post so my friends can see what it's like to hear things for t
