Hello all,

I’m Neil, I’m definitely a newbie here, just got my CI activated in the beginning of the weeks. I’m have severe hearing loss on my right ear due to Meniere’s Disease and I’m so happy now that I can start picking up sounds even they are still very robotic but I’m working on it :) Happy to know that HearPeer will a community where we can share our own stories and encourage others that it’s can only get better from here.

I ordered Sonnet 2 and Rondo 3. Current working on Sonnet 2 only cause the Rondo 3 couldn’t stay in tack even my Audi has used the magnet strength # 5, they said due to my swollen skin post op, will work on the Rondo 3 again in a month.

Good luck with your early recovery. Those robots will slowly become people, given time and practise!

@nghia_2804. Welcome. I am on Rondo 3 as we do not here have the luxury of both processors, just a one time option to switch. Each person's physiognomy is a little different as is the time it takes for the swelling to subside. I was activated five weeks after being implanted. I started off with a level 3 strength battery. This was boosted to  a level four after about one week and then dropped to a level two at the end of the month. When I dropped back to level 2 I was given the key, the magnets and the instructions to change back to level 3 if I wanted: I have never felt the need. I also became familiar and comfortable with the clips which I love.

my gurus advise me to go with the lowest magnet strength consistent with my feeling comfortable. for me a level 2.

Does it fall off? Yes but only if if I provoke it. For example, I wear mine over my right ear and I am right handed. When I swing a jacket over my shoulders I set the right sleeve first so i tend to clout the processsor. I have simply learned to remove it from my head, put the jacket on and restore the processor.

Good luck

Excellent explanation, same for me sonnet2....the coil can come off while dressing or brushed against, i remove and leave behind before entering bathroom for bath/shower, so i am usually dressed before putting sonnet2eas back on. I only received the one processor. I have come to the conclusion i wish i had gone to a 2 unit center as i would love to try rondo.

Thank you for you input Andrew!

Im using magnet strength #5 both on my Sonnet 2 and Rondo 3. The Sonnet 2 works good with me, I have it attached just right, sometimes it slides off the implant and I have to adjust it once in a while. But I’m happy that it works.

For Rondo 3 as I mentioned, my Audi asked me to wait for a month then I can try it again. I found myself keep trying the magnet on the Rondo but it still falls off with #5 magnet. With my best luck, I really hoping that I can use Rondo 3 in the future. Honestly, I’m kind of doubting that I will ever able to use Rondo 3 as I recalled my surgeon said to me that I have a thick scalp. 🥹🥹🥹
