HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted January 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 Ermmm... I wouldn't be sure this is 100% true - skin is extremly thin in the ear canal. I would say it has much more connection with your old mold or how well it was shaped at the first place.
HearPeers Heroes Mr-LJ Posted January 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 You guys may well laugh but I still wear an ear mould with my opious 2, mainly just to keep it on. I don't dislike wearing ear moulds. Forty five years I guess I've got so well used to them. Thanks for the welcomes K/Caras!

HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted January 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 Laurence, We often use earmolds to anchor CI processors on young students too. The good thing is that you can get a skeleton mold that allows air to flow nicely into your ear canal and still get the anchoring benefit from the earmold. HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted January 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 Marybeth, I had one of those as well and it worked quite nicely.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted January 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 Adam- If I recall correctly, maybe you need to find your old skeleton molds to use with your new Sonnets when you are high up on ladders! Pardon me Adam - we didn't think at same thing. Later it crossed my mind that you were thinking at the mold of HA. I was thinking at mold in the mouth during dentist visit. HearPeers Heroes Valentin Posted August 7, 2020 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 7, 2020 Altough this is a some years post, it would be interesting that MED EL talk about it, here, and in the blog. These days I had a mouth x-rayed with no issue (I asked my audiologist if these are allowed before), but (at same way of weight scale) in other thread, talk about it. There is ultrasonic cleaning of the mouth. the dentist was doubted whether it could be applied or had to be done manually.. He said me that the peopled with pacemaker can not use ultrasonic device to do the work.

HearPeers Heroes Valentin Posted August 10, 2020 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 10, 2020 Hi @MED-EL Moderator, thank you for your answer. The link redirect to manual for MRI, but don't talk nothing about other devices we've been talking about here biometrical weight scales, dental procedures with ultrasonic devices... What about these ones? Not only although mandatory is that the rules and manual to do not only is it mandatory and necessary to have the manual for certain medical procedures such as MRI, it is also necessary and interesting to know if these new medical procedures such as the case of the dentist and ultrasound equipment or the use of gadgets such as the weight that takes measurements through electrodes on the feet could damage the implant/processor or simply the measurement would not be accurate. Thank you again.

Thank you again. Hi @Valentin, In the English version of the manual it states regarding Ultrasonic therapy: "Ultrasonic therapy must not be used in the area of the implant, as the implant may not inadvertently concentrate the ultrasound field and cause harm" Regarding the biometrical weight scales - I have contacted our product experts for more information Kind regards, Mary Mary Beth and Valentin

MED-EL Moderator
HI @Valentin I heard back from our implant experts here at HQ. In principle, they do not see why using the scale would interfere with our implant systems, since the scale is not used close to your head and should confirm with electric safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards. However, Mi Body Composition Scale has not been specifically tested with our implants. Our experts cannot say whether the implant could interfere with the Mi Body Composition Scale system, and would recommend you follow the user manuals and guidelines provided by Mi Body Composition Scale. HearPeers Heroes Valentin Posted August 12, 2020 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 12, 2020 Thank you Mary. The manufacturer say that don't use in same way that don't recommend to use, persons with pacemakers and other medical implants. But I understand that this is generic With others ears implants brands is not possible to do MRI, and with some MED EL implant it is possible. It would desirable that MED EL talk directly wit MI (Xiaomi specialist staff) and talk about the way that scales work to, and have precise information (this is a suggestion). They are not very precise and don't talk about device technology use to take the measurement, but I suppose that use bioelectrical impedance. Here I post the user guide link (pay attention that it is the previos version of the Scale, not the Scale 2). https://files.xiaomi-mi.com/files/smart_scales_fat/Xiaomi smart scale Fat-EN.pdf I don't have a special interest in using this type of device, but I found it curious that they put in the manual indications not to be used with implants. Hi @Valentin, thank you very much for your input on this topic. We will forward it to the responsible team here at MED-EL. However ultimately every company (in this case Xiaomi) is responsible on their own what kind of information / level of depth of the information they put in their manuals.
