Sonnet2 users who use AudioKey2 app as a remote

A few questions…

Do you need to repeatedly sign into the app?  If so how often does it make you sign in again?  What happens if you do not have Wi-Fi access when it makes you sign in?

tagging some Sonnet2 users.  Would love to hear feedback from any Sonnet2 user.  Thanks

Hi mary beth,

I feel like its about once a week maybe.

We have internet, but 4 users on phones makes it slow or disconnect. When i see wi fi disconnect im still in the app with my phone. I have verizon 4g and it seldom has all bars.

Yes - periodically I’m asked to sign in. I’m unsure what triggers/prompts it so it’s unpredictable.

I am wondering how we use the app as a remote when we are prompted to log in again to access the app but in a location without Wi-Fi?

I am using the Fine Tuner so I always have access to my remote but when I switch to using the app as a remote, what happens when forced to log in and we do not have Wi-Fi access?  And why do we need to repeatedly log in to the app?

I’ve pondered this further and haven’t had issues with the app when logging in with WiFi or on cellular. I’d imagine as long as you have one or the other it would be fine and work. Unsure about not having either and only doing Bluetooth. Interested in seeing @MED-EL Moderator‘s response.

One login annoyance I DO have is when logging into My Medel or the US WebShop. I always get the below email:

Basically it’s just informing me that I signed in with my email on my account and subsequently my email was changed… to the email on my account. That I used to login. It’s never changed and I don’t know how to get these notices to stop. Since setting up my account last year my email has never changed yet anytime I log in, I get that email.

I use the application, but not every day, as I don't always need to change programs or settings. At random I seem to have to log in again. It's just an annoyance for me though - I don't understand what in the application warrants a log in to be required. A remote should be just a remote, without a padlock attached to it. Anyway, it works for me just fine on both wifi and mobile data, so I've not had problems with running the application, just re-entering the password is not nice.

I live in a rural, mountainous area where cell phone access is not always available.  It would be helpful to be able to use the app anytime without worry of needing to log in again in order to use the remote.

I have friends who spend a lot of time camping with their CIs in areas with no cell coverage nor Wi-Fi.

The need to log in repeatedly limits the usability of the app and decreases its convenience in my opinion.

I only have to use the app to log- in about once every 5 or 6 months. For some reason at that time I lose connection and try everything to get back. I do the Forget and log-in attempting to get connected and all of a sudden it works. I am not even sure if re logging in was necessary  but  at that point I try everything.

I am sure if you don’t have internet connection you cannot log-on. I have tried.

Does anyone notice that when you triple click the Home button on an iPhone or iPad and it displays your name and a battery symbol, the battery always shows 100% even when it is almost dead?

I agree with you, I'd love if they released a lite version of the app that works offline. I have almost spotless mobile service because Nordic countries take pride in it, but sometimes I travel to places where it's much worse and uh... It'd be nice to be able to change the settings even if I am on a boat in the middle of the sea or something.

Same here,

Sometimes i cant access the audiokey app if im connected thru audio link. My phone has sonnet2 as left ha, and audiostream shows up as hearing aid and when streaming tv use audio link, cant access audiokey app.

Maybe when medel is "crowded" it drops us as looged out

@Dianna

I don’t know but it is not user friendly to need to repeatedly log in so that the remote features can be used.  Multiple hearing aid and cochlear implant brands have remote apps and do not require repeated log in.

Hi everyone,

if the AudioKey 2 has already been logged in, then the app can be used as a remote controller even if the mobile phone has no internet connection.

However, if the app is not logged in, then the login cannot be completed. Therefore the app cannot be used as a remote controller. So, a prior log-in is necessary.

It does not ask for log info constantly. It logs the users out if they do not use AK-2 for a month. Then it asks for the login info again. If you do not use the app often, then of course it will feel like it asks for the login every time. If you have experienced this differently, please let us know.

Kind regards,
Gordana

That is definitely reassuring!  I can make sure I use the app within a month so that it is always available even when I am out of Wi-Fi/cellphone range.  Thank you for this information!
