Hi Mary Beth,

I’m currently a CI candidate. 

I have had an unexplained bilateral progressive HL since I was 27, nearly 20 years now. I’ve been wearing HAs for the last 16 years. I’ve never really felt that they were much help, but lately what they amplify mostly makes speech/sounds distorted. My speech recognition (with HAs) has gotten worse in the last year or so, thus CIs have been recommended by the last audiologist I saw. I’ve been doing some extensive research and, if I decide to get implanted, I’m strongly considering MEDEL. 

I’ve been reading so many of the great stories on here, on FB and watched several of the success stories on YouTube. It’s truly uplifting to see how CIs have changed/improved so many of your lives. I look forward to getting to know you guys a little better. Thx!
