Surgery in 6 days

Terry Bush

Recommended Posts

I am having surgery done Sept. 13th.  I am excited about regaining some hearing but also a bit anxious which is not like me. I have Meniere's Disease and my right ear is deaf now.  i have moderate hearing loss in my left ear.  I am in Oklahoma and my insurance approved unilateral CI which is off-label in the US so I feel fortunate. My hearing loss only started 2 years ago but my right ear spiraled down the toilet rather quickly. I am excited to know this forum exists for information and support.

Looking forward to many years of information and better hearing.

Good luck !I just had surgery August 31and now I'm at home resting up..I began losing the hearing in my implanted ear 12 years ago with a diagnosis of possible Ménière's disease ..I survived with my phonak cros hearing aides until my left (implanted) worsened to profound and the right ear worsened over the past 2 years to severe..good luck ! I'm enjoying this forum immensely!

Thanks so much for the kind words of encouragement! My surgery is in 8 hours and I can't sleep. Not really worried just excited. @Jane: sounds like you're doing well! Have you had it activated yet?

Terri while I'm writing this you must be getting prepped for surgery..hope all goes well and let us know how you are ..I know you'll be relieved it's over ..that's how I felt .I am doing well my activation date is Sept 29..I see my surgeon for follow up next Monday ..I'll be glad to see her just to make sure everything looks ok to her but I only need to take an occasional Tylenol at this point..mainly I've been taking it easy (and Also getting over a slight cold)..prayers and well wishes for you today

Hi Terry,

Where are you and how are you? Waiting for your story. I hope you are doing quite well after that ordeal.

We need a smiley with flowers and balloons to celebrate the surgery, activation, and mapping success:) (ice cream, too)

I am 4 days post surgery and doing well. I have had a fair bit of post-op pain and I am trying to wean myself off pain meds. I have altered taste sensation on that side of my tongue but knew to expect this.

I have my activation on the 29th and am excited about that.

Thanks for checking on me I'm getting better my minor set back was the cold I caught this past week from my husband that made me feel pretty crummy plus I was so nervous every time I was sneezing to sneeze through my mouth and not blow my nose ! But that's gone and I see my surgeon tomorrow and can get the steristrips I still have on my ear off..I'm sure I'll feel better with that off..plus I have a list of questions a page long :)

ill feel better just seeing her and having her check everything out ! I've had this time to read books I've ordered by different authors who've had CIs ..so now I'm just ready for the 29 !
