Wish you could use AirPods with your sonnet2/sonnet?

This CI user created a way to do that.  Would be excellent for anyone wishing to have hands free phone calls or those with Single sided deafness

users are liking the AudioStream adapter for Rondo 3.  There is a promotion from Med-El US at the moment for a slight discount.

connectivity may be similar but at least the AudioStream adapter can remain always attached and thereby avoid the issue of a loosening battery cover design of AudioStream for Sonnet

My problem was that when playing tennis/going for a run/etc. in this high humidity area, sweat would get in and ruin the AudioStream, they replaced it many times until it ran out of its warranty / I've been using AudoiLink which I find frustrating at best as it always loses connection even when sometimes holding it etc

@Jared Charney not sure if unique to me but I’m finding it less troublesome than Sonnet 2. In configuration I didn’t have to reset them like I often do with the Sonnet AudioStream covers. And in Accessibility (iPhone user) they connected right away once I’d deleted the AudioStream covers. I did a short screen record yesterday and the only one I had trouble connecting was my left Sonnet series AudioStream. Had to restart that 2-3 times before both showed as paired/connected. Switching back and forth was otherwise easy.

As for streaming, I’m more confident that the adapters connect right away to my phone. With the sleeves I always check first.

I did have crackly audio when i put my phone in my pocket, so that’s still an issue.

@Jared Charneyyeah very likely, just the same as Sonnet series AudioStream. I was walking outside and just put it into my hoodie pocket and the music immediately went crackly.

I don’t know if you’d want to wear your phone on your arm or something but that is at least one option to consider. When I’m biking my phone is right in front of me in the middle of the handlebars in a secure protective case.

no, I was hoping they would make the kind of progress like say my Bose headphones I don't understand the technology but I'm able to be downstairs with say an iPad upstairs and still stream music via the Bose bluetooth, ok, I might have to wait it out even longer not sure, TY

I don’t have the booklets on hand that came with the audiostream adapters but recalled seeing the dryer mentioned so  reached out to Med-El and got confirmation:

Compared to AudioLink the range of the adapters is way better. Just somehow putting it into a pocket causes interference. Funny how that works given the following-

I tested the range just now. Left my phone at my desk at work and walked at least 20 feet away, down a short hall, to a completely different room with walls between destinations. Didn’t lose connection to the music I started to test it.

inside signals bounce off of walls and that extends the range.

outside the signal just disperses

@Mary Beth thanks - I guess I always forget that. I’ll try to remember to not take calls outside only to go inside and do the “can you hear me now” thing.

yup.  Fortunately Sonnets have built in telecoil and the Artone lets me have handsfree phone calls even with the phone in another room.  Quite 21st century for old telecoil tech.  😂

@Jared Charney I'm hoping that the R3 Audiostream combination is still protected enough from sweat.  I'll be wearing it when I get back to tennis.

My experience with R3 Audiostream after ~4 days of heavy use is similar to @Lauren's.  Connectivity is more reliable and restarts.  Much less checking the BT device list to reconnect.  (Android 14/Pixel 6a  user.)  Might stay better connected a little better with a phone in my pocket than the S2/AS combination but any change there is very minimal.  It will not be anything like a high quality set of Bluetooth headphones. If that is your threshold, don't bother with the Audiostream for R3.

I wonder if the R3 Audiostream clip will help channel any moisture away.  It isn't designed for ingress protection but might be better than a bare R3 with Audiostream.  Fingers crossed that it doesn't expose the R3 to greater moisture either since replacing an R3 is much worse than an S2 Audiostream battery cover.  May take a few months before we accumulate experience on this matter.

All in all, as I posted in another comment, the R3 Audiostream has so far exceeded my expectations.

@Mary Beth Love the description and project, thanks for sharing.  Hard to believe it is a 6 year old project. Rich history of user innovation projects for CIs.
