Deanne
In yesterday's HearPeers GoogleMeet, I mentioned I was having an issue with harmonics or a buzzing/strumming sound when using my Rondo 3 - typically later in the day with lower decibel sounds. When I swap processors, the sound is gone. I tried the suggestion that@Mary Beth gave - to remove and turn off the processor, wait a minute or two and turn it on. That didn't work. So today, I had a 1:1 meeting with MedEl. They are shipping a replacement since it appears there is something going on. I've gone thru a fair amount of troubleshooting - replace the microphone cover, compare to the Sonnet 2, log when it happens - battery percentage, etc. It started recently, prior to my new audiostream (great addition if you haven't already picked one up!). Has anyone else had an issue like this?
Lauren
I haven’t had that issue with my Rondo 3s. I’ve had replacements due to battery issues (left side 2x), but nothing sound related. As it was explained to me the first time, Rondo 3 is a simple device so not too much to troubleshoot compared to Sonnet 2. Typically just jump straight to replacement for this processor. HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted July 8 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 8 @Deanne Thanks for letting us know. Hopefully the replacement processor will behave consistently. Keep us posted. @Lauren true not much troubleshooting which is good while the processor is under warranty but not so helpful when it is out of warranty. Surgical kits come with 5 year warranty in the US but upgrade kits only have a 3 year warranty. Lauren
Lauren
@Deanne by any chance are you using the AudioStream adapter? This morning when I was putting on my Rondo 3s I had the worst sound in only my right Rondo 3. I tried turning it off and on and it persisted. By a stroke of luck I touched the AudioStream adapter and it clicked back fully into place. Guess it wiggled loose a little somehow despite having a locking mechanism on the sides. Sound immediately stopped. Mary Beth
Deanne
Yes I am. In fact MedEl asked the same. This started happening prior to plugging it in so I am not sure that mine is related. Good to know you got yours under control and I will keep an eye out for that as well. They suggested I go for a day without it, then plug it in and see if the noise comes back. It could be that it got worse with the adapter, I hope not, I love it! It is so very convenient to be able to pair and stream rather than everything needed for the audio link to work … as well (!) as it did. Lauren
@Deanne I’m glad the adapter wasn’t the culprit at least! Glad that Med-El was able to get you all squared away with a new processor on the way. Deanne
Deanne
Hi all, just had my 6 month mapping and I have news regarding the extra noise I had been hearing. Here is a recap. After talking with MedEl, I swapped my rondo and changed my magnet strength. It continued. I knew I had an upcoming mapping so I adjusted the volume and sensitivity until we could meet. Today, I talked it over with my audiologist and we turned off one of the electrodes. I am happy to say that the noise is gone. I am going to go back to my rehab since the chipmunks are back, not as bad as originally, but as most or all of you know, significant changes to your mapping require a bit of work. an added bonus…I didn’t realize the extra sounds I was hearing while driving were related. I have always been bothered by road noise…and now, it is so much better… progress!
