I've been experiencing a problem with my CI batteries draining extremely quickly whenever I connect my laptop with the AudioLink. I use the AudioLink for meetings, presentations, or listening to music on YouTube while working.

Almost every time I connect to the AudioLink, one of my CIs (both are Sonnet 2) signals battery drain within a minute of connecting it to my computer. Today, I changed both of my CI batteries and did some training over Teams. This afternoon, I had a FaceTime call on my laptop, and both CI batteries drained again.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

@NathalieM

Have you tried using AudioLink with power one disposable batteries to see if it drains those quickly too?

This may help you narrow down the issue to

rechargeable battery adapter

rechargeable batteries

audiolink

I have read user reports of false low battery beeps happening when using AudioLink.  I do not know of a fix.

But we have several members who use AudioLink connected Ted to their computers, so maybe someone has an idea.

If you also have rechargeable batteries, it may be worth trying those.

The processor can be connected to both AudioStream and AudioLink simultaneously since those two devices actually use two different receivers.  Possibly turning off the BT on your phone while using the AudioLink may help too.

Today I put new Power One implant batteries in both of my Sonnets.  I did not use the AudioLink.  My left processor beeped dead batteries and went dead immediately.  I removed the battery pack, reattached it, pressed down on the batteries and pushed up the battery cover.  It had been working fine for several hours so far.

Yes, I do find that sometimes I have to reattach or remove the battery sleeve and reinsert when I get the low battery signal...then it's good to go.

I was just checking the BT on my phone and everything is disconnected? Is that what I should be seeing or should I also disconnect/forget this device under the Accessibility > Hearing Devices? I'm checking in here before I attempt to try again (I'd really hate to have to replace the batteries again!).

I was thinking just to temporarily turn off BT on your phone.  That will prevent the Sonnets from being connected to both the AudioStream and AudioLink simultaneously.  Then you can just easily turn BT back on when you are finished with the AudioLink.  Just toggle BT off.

That’s what I would try.

You can delete the DFU listings without issues out of that BT list as that’s just a wrapper for when you updated the AudioStreams.  Otherwise, for AudioStream your setup is how it should be in iOS.  Processors will show offline in BT menu however will show in AudioKey 2 app for changes.

I know this is a long time to respond but I just had a chance to test this.

I've turned off BT on my phone and my batteries drained again within a few seconds (both with rechargeable & disposable batteries, same results - both CI's/sides). When I turn off the AudioLink, I removed the battery sleeve & re-inserted it and the batteries are fine (as long as I don't connect to AudioLink). I then swapped the AudioStream battery sleeve for the regular one - same results (battery drain within seconds).

I'm thinking there's something wrong with the AudioLink? It's also fully charged.

Anyone have issues with their AudioLink messing with their Sonnet2's batteries? I'm now thinking of purchasing the Artone 3...

Hi @Lauren - I think so? I know it's kind of an odd answer, but I ended up using the AudioLink docking station when I'm on the computer and that seems to help alleviate the issue.

Medel shipped several parts to me: new AudioLink & battery for it, battery covers/sleeves for both CI's (they thought that might be the issue), and battery frame for both CI's. I returned everything to replace with the parts they sent me. It's hard to say what worked (I actually broke down each steps, replacing one part at a time and it turns out that the docking station was the answer).

I'm looking forward to try out the new iOS Sequoia when it launches (this Fall sometime) - it's supposed to support the AudioStream.
