JohnNadashki
Hi all, Hope you are all doing well! I have questions about Rondo3 microphones and hope to learn more about the general design of Rondo3 mic ... 1/ So would anyone shed me some light on how 2 microphones on Rondo3 work? 2/ Is one microphone tracking for my voice and other microphone is used for other sounds around me? 3/ how to check if microphone is not working properly? Thank you Quote Link to comment https://forum.hearpeers.com/topic/22129-rondo3-microphone/ Share on other sites
Members Tim
John, the microphones work a little differently from this. A lot of users in Hearpeers like the "Omni" microphone setting which is like using a single microphone getting input from all directions. Personally, I also This article from Med-El explains things pretty well. I wonder if the Audi can run a test of the microphones. If you have doubts about the microphones, one option is to replace the screen/cover. JohnNadashki
Thank you, Tim! It is very informative link! This link describes setting options for SONNET and I assume it will apply to RONDO3. I can see the Auto Adaptive seems to be the best setting since it can auto flip to "Omni" when it sees fit. It also covers for "natural directional" setting (? I could be wrong). 1/ Has anyone in this forum ever requested audiologist to have 3 settings (Omni, Natural, and Adaptive) in 3 maps program? I am wondering if this request is possible 2/ Another question: do you know where I can read what possible setting that RONDO3 can provide? I want to educate myself so when I visit audiologist, I can provide better status, understand what setting I am given, and request what I need ... Lauren
@JohnNadashki Both Sonnet 2 and Rondo 3 run ASM 3.0 so both have the same capabilities. However for your reading/knowledge: https://www.medel.pro/products/rondo3 To chime in on the first question: Audiologists can assign any combination of available settings you want to each of the four available programming slots. I have all four slots filled with 2 each in Omni and Natural and then different combinations of Ambient Noise and Transient Noise Reduction on/off Mild/Strong. Helpful for the various situations I find myself in. Others have their own programming to suit their needs. Sometimes it’s trial and error (mine was). Members Tim
I go in with a google sheet printout that both serves as my reminder of terms and what I have in mind for programming. Elsewhere I share the google link. This may most current but shows what I have in mind... Bringing in two printouts allows more time for discussion and less for trying to take notes on all the various settings. JohnNadashki
Thank you, Tim and Lauren!!! I have question for Tim: You have two columns in your image. First column has 5 tables and second column has 2 tables. Questions i have is in column 2 table 1 1/ what are R3 and S2? are they sequencing number of each program map you have in your RONDO3 (R3) and SONNET2 (S2)? 2/ what is stimulation column of "column 2 table 1" ? (for example: FS4 V: 90 (80-100)) 3/ what is Def Sens? 4/ My Audiologist is treating me with ABF (anatomy based fitting). are those setting you have in "column 2 table 1 or table 2" fit me? 5/ What is fitting option to make my RONDO3 louder? I have hearing aid and Rondo3 and Rondo3 is very soft so I have to turn volume down on hearing aid (-8) so I can force myself to listen on RONDO3. The little remote volume adjuster device showed almost max volume when I turn on RONDO3 so that device did not help. Thank you all again for sharing the setting Quote Link to comment https://forum.hearpeers.com/topic/22129-rondo3-microphone/#findComment-81862 Share on other sites
Members Tim
1. Yes, I have SSD and have a Rondo 3 and Sonnet 2. I use my sheet to keep track of the old program for them and the new program. I abbreviate them as R3 and S2. 2. Stimulation is FS4 vs. FS4p as a stimulation strategy. FS4 is what most are using. I tried FS4p and didn't care for it. V stands for default volume and range. Therefore 90 as default in a range of 80-100 adjustable via Audiokey 2 or Audiolink. This is a notation drawn from the Med-El report. I use a broader range with Omni mic as suggested by @Mary Beth and others. 3. A microphone setting. Probably best to just leave at default now that there are ways to do some mix ratio setting in advanced program options. 4. ABF (Anatomy Based Fitting) is a different issue. There is a spot in my sheet with info on it but but you can get a lot of rich discussion about it in Hearpeers. No data in my sheet records info about ABF. 5. The Audi might adjust your volume range, you can adjust your volume default. Other adjustments might be called for. If you are early in your activation, everything is changing quickly, just note it for your next appointment. No idea where you are in your hearing journey. Having info in your signature helps people give context relevant answers. This spreadsheet may be information overload for people unless they want to dive into the details. DM me if you want a link to a shareable version of the sheet. As an engineer, I tend to get into the nitty gritty details. My audi emails or prints a copy of her programming report after each session.
