Ear Cuff to anchor my processor

Recommended Posts

After having my Rondo knocked off and wanting something other than the default hair or clothes clip, I found an Ear Cuff on Etsy (Vendor: WickedlyWired) to be my answer.  I changed out the hair clasp to a lobster clasp (typical Jewelry clasp) since the hair clasp was bothering my incision area behind my ear.

Before the Rondo AudioStream addition, I also updated the 'wire' to a chain that I found on Etsy (Vendor: Deaf Metal).  They also had additional CI processor connectors which I picked up a couple at the same time.

I've attached a picture of the two below.

This is just my answer to keeping things close.... Let me know what you are doing.EarCuff.jfif

@Deanne

thank you for sharing

I downloaded the pic but it will not open.  Any chance you can attach it as a pic which displays for all without downloading?

Deanne! My new best friend!  The Rondo clips get tangled in my earrings and the hair clips just slide through my hair.  I've been experimenting connecting flexible cord (or fishing wire) directly to my french wired earrings, using odds and ends from a long-ago beading hobby.   Connecting to this ear clip looks to be much simpler. Between the tiny connection and hands inherited from Dad 😁, I've had a hard time tying onto the Rondo (no adapter as yet). Could be just my clumsiness. I'll order a few of these clips and see if I can make it work. Appreciate the tip. Teddy

@Teddyi picked up the metal chain at Deaf Metal (https://www.deafmetal.store). They have more ways to connect your devices to your ears.  I am working on connecting the audiostream cover to the ear cuff with the chain. I like the extra bling, it makes it more visible to people…sometimes they actually slow down when talking…sometimes

have fun, share your creations…

Deanne…Received the ear clip a few weeks ago. Was hoping the back part was long enough to reach the piercing but it wasn’t. I’m sure they’d custom make one but right now I’m going with my original plan: clear cord  knotted, then looped on back of earring and secured with regular old earring guard. Cumbersome because the earring has to go in first so I guess it depends on how much time I take to manage it.

Teddy, That looks good. I added a clasp to the chain so it can clip on/off easily. I find the knots work their way out so I will crimp the ends to make sure they don’t. I think there are longer chains if that’s what you are looking for.

I will, I tried opening it after and it appeared ok - but you never know with these things.

I absolutely love this.   Just last night the rubbery retention line broke on my hair clip. Now I am afraid to wear my processor, scared of losing it.

I was using a rigged up extension cord to the Rondo 3 audiostream's retention system.  It used the hair clip to connect to the extension ring rather than what  @Deanne did of removing the hair clip and connecting straight to the included O-ring.

After about 3 months of use, my sewing clip broke. We didn't trust knotting it so we had used a little superglue on the knot as well. The result was that replacing the sewing clip would take some work on the cord too. Perhaps I should have used a durable metal clasp on the cord to connect to the sewing clip.  Alas, rather than repairing I chose to live life dangerously with no retention system for about 6 months. Over that time, I had several cases of the Rondo 3 + Audiostream Adapter getting knocked off and lost an Audiostream Adapter.  (Arggh!  Replacement cost $325 before the Christmas holidays!)

Last week my wife finally convinced me to give just the regular hair clip adapter another try.  It does seem to work pretty well for me.  It won't keep a serious knock from dislodging it but it is better than I thought.  The very small clip is a little awkward but workable.  It also means that there is a much smaller target for getting caught.  Still not an ideal system but at least usable.

The retention clip design should allow for easy user replacement of the retention cord.  This would help with both replacement when the cord breaks and to allow for users to replace it with other designs easily.  (The hair clip doesn't work for bald users!)

@Anne B.You can also try checking out your local hobby shop.  They have stretch cord that can be used.  I like the chains since they have a bit more weight, the stretch cord seems to float a bit more rather than stay behind my ear.  I'm back to using my ear cuff/clip as I find that to be the best for me.
