FionaW
Hi i have recently become a Ci user - implanted in April 2024 and switched on 7 May 2024. I’m 58 and have been wearing bilateral hearing aids all my life. Implanted one side only so bimodal but my hearing aid hasn’t been reprogrammed yet. My big issue with the Rondo 3 is that when I listen to speech or television - I hear like ‘clanging’ - it is like someone playing a xylophone very fast and there is this build-up of echoes - until the notes are stopped manually - except I can’t stop this constant echo manually. is there a setting that should be on? Or does this sound like there’s something wrong? Or does my brain still need to adjust to the differences in sound? Sometimes I struggle to understand what my husband is saying in a quiet room but I can hear a pneumatic drill 50 metres ahead loud and clear!! Thanks in advance! HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted August 28 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 28 @FionaW Welcome to HearPeers and congratulations on your CI! Have you had program adjustments since your May activation? I found aural rehab practice to be very helpful. It sounds like you are hearing a lot of bass sounds. Your audiologist may be able to help with that. Are you listening to the television through its speakers or do you have the AudioLink connected? FionaW
Hi Mary Beth. Thank you for your prompt response. I am hearing the television through its speakers. I also get this clanging/echo-y even listening to people talking. I have had 3 retuning appointments since switch-on and my next is due around end Oct. I am still getting used to all ‘remote controls’ that come with the CI!
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted August 28 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 28 @FionaW It’s difficult to say because you are early in your journey. I recommend discussing easing off of bass sounds a bit with your audiologist. Tell your audiologist about how far away you are picking up bass sounds. Also ask if any aural rehab guidance can be provided.
