HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted February 3, 2018 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted February 3, 2018 @MED-EL Moderator I have been reading about the ability to use triphasic pulses in Maestro 7 and how it is especially useful with people who have otosclerosis to avoid facial stim. I have a few questions. Which processors are able to use triphasic pulses? Which internal implants are needed to use triphasic pulses? If triphasic pulses are required due to facial stim, must all of the electrodes for that side use triphasic pulses or can you choose triphasic pulses on targeted electrodes? Thank you. MED-EL Moderator
Hi @Mary Beth there are many different capabilities of MAESTRO 7, including triphasic pulses, and yes, there have been examples of it being useful for people in avoiding facial stimulation. There are various implants and audio processors that are compatible with MAESTRO 7 and can use triphasic pulses, including SYNCHRONY. However, please be aware that the availability of the full range of MAESTRO 7 software capabilities, including triphasic pulses, depends on the country that you are using it in. MED-EL Moderator
Hi @Mary Beth, Yes, triphasic pulses do work with the CONCERTO implant - they work all the way back to the PULSAR implant. Kind regards, Barbara Mary Beth

HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 9, 2018 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 9, 2018 Nick from Med-El responded on their blog regarding if triphasic pulses had to be used on all electrodes or could be used just on certain electrodes that are causing facial stim issues. Here is what he said: Nick Kroll Hello Mary Beth, That's a great question. Currently, fitting with triphasic pulses would be implemented on all channels. However, this generally hasn’t been an issue for our triphasic users—performance on the other channels is not reduced.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 25, 2018 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 25, 2018 @MED-EL Moderator Which processors can use triphasic pulses? Can Rondo? OPUS 2? Sonnet?
MED-EL Moderator
Hi @Mary Beth, All of our current CI audio processors (OPUS 2, SONNET, RONDO and RONDO 2) which can be fitted by using MAESTRO 7 software, are capable to use triphasic pulses. But, as mentioned before, the availability of the full range of MAESTRO 7 software capabilities, including triphasic pulses, depends on the country that you are using it in. Hope that helps! Cheers, Leigh Mary Beth
