Hicksy
My much better half has been complaining of tinnitus so off she went for a test. It has been suggested she invest in a set of ReSound Linx 3D. 9 series, Bluetooth and smartphone compatible. This would help deal with the tinnitus as well as some high frequency loss. Does anyone have any experience with these or offer any other suggestions? Thanks... HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted July 11, 2018 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 11, 2018 @Hicksy I’m not sure how HAs are funded in Canada. In the US, most insurance companies do not cover them so they are self pay for many people. I always recommend people get HAs from an audiologist who offers a 30-45 day full refund policy. HearPeers Heroes Mary Featherston Posted July 12, 2018 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 12, 2018 I don't know why a hearing aid would help with tinnitus though. I've had tinnitus AND hearing aids since 1973 and never found that the HAs helped - at least, with the tinnitus. They did, of course, help me hear. My last set was ReSound. I still have the Bluetooth phone accessory and the remote microphone. When I schedule my second CI surgery I was planning to donate them along with the hearing aids but if you'd like the accessories I'll mail them to you. I think I paid $300 each for them five or six years ago. If you think she's interested I'll tell you the model names and her audiologist can confirm whether they'll work with the recommended HAs. Daniel the Stranger
@Mary Featherston I can say that my HAs used to mask a lot my tinnitus. That is why I don't go to the pool often, because I have to remove them and it is very annoying. Hicksy
Thanks for the offer! Let’s see if she goes ahead. She tested for high frequency loss in each ear so she has been given a demo set to try for a week by the audiologist although the Bluetooth is not functional on the demo set. The help with tinnitus comes with pairing with a smartphone and their apps which can provide background white noise and other calming effects which she can’t try on the demo set. She says the tinnitus is getting really bad but is skeptical of tinnitus relief. I hope she notices enough improvement in hearing this week to go ahead which I’ve been advocating for at least a year. John Tierney
My left resound ONE5 hearing aid stopped working. It is a rechargeable model and has been fully charged and the dome and wax guard have been replaced. prior to not working at all, the hearing aid would cut in and out. That’s when I changed the dome and wax guard. When I insert into the ear canal, I have rubbed the top of the hearing aid and get no scratching sound. Any help would be appreciated. William Disbrow
John, I have resound Bluetooth aids and they have both been replaced maybe three times each due to cut out and quite working. No explanations just new aids under warranty. When they cut out. Pull the feed out of your ear and let it start to back feed, that will get it on full again for a few min. It’s a dis function of the product period Quote Link to comment https://forum.hearpeers.com/topic/3685-resound-hearing-aids/#findComment-47022 Share on other sites
AnnetteT
@Hicksy, Back when I used hearing aids (they no longer help me), this was my favorite resource online. Dr. Cliff offers a lot of good reviews and even does the occasional small-scale study. Here is his recommendations for Bluetooth aids (he isn't sponsored by any of the manufacturers). Can a hearing aid cause tinnitus? Quote Link to comment https://forum.hearpeers.com/topic/3685-resound-hearing-aids/#findComment-50786 Share on other sites
Dianna
I was told long time ago that tinnitus was your brain wanting to hear so hearing aids would help. I remember telling them i need to get rid of the "birds". I purchased these hearing aids in 2014. My insurance requited a 2nd opinion. I went to an ENT. He told me, yes he reccomended the HA but told me they might not give me 100 percent hearing. I believe if he was my full time doc i would have been reccomend implant at that time. Got the expensive oticons, did hear better, but eventually (5 years) i had problems and tinnitus at times. The ha's both broke down. I went a year with out one ear working and heard my birds alot. So from 2019 to 2021 i had tinnitus. Since activation i have had zero tinnitus.
