Jackie Erickson
I’ve had my cochlear implants for a year. I still have trouble understanding any kind of speech. I have a Roger pen, I still have trouble hearing. I have looked at these other “loop” devices. Anybody have any words of wisdom for me? HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted November 24, 2018 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 24, 2018 Hi @Jackie Erickson If I am remembering correctly, you received your second CI not that long ago correct? You had used a Rondo on the first side and you chose a Sonnet for your second side? Are you using one Rondo and one Sonnet now? Are you looking for help with understanding speech on both sides or just your new side? In my experience assistive tech like Roger or neckloop etc can give us access to streaming audio and can help overcome challenges due to distance or noise. To improve understanding speech, I turn to aural rehab. We have quite an extensive list of aural rehab apps, websites, activities under REHAB. Have you checked them out? I like to suggest the free app AB CLIX for starting out as it starts quite easy and advances slowly.
Jackie Erickson
Yes, I had right ear done a year ago and left ear in April 2018. I am open to any help with my hearing. As I am writing this, I am at a Thanksgiving get together sitting by myself in the living room while everyone else is in the family room. I choose to isolate myself because I cannot follow speech. HearPeers Heroes Jewel Posted November 24, 2018 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 24, 2018 @Jackie Erickson I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties with your CI journey. If you have an iPhone you can use the Ava app and understand what others are saying. That's how the audi communicated with me on activation day. Of course the aural rehab mentioned by Mary Beth is very important. Hang in there. Don't give up.
