Monte
Hello everyone! I've finally gotten my surgery date. I've been approved for bilateral Cochlear Implants. I have some residual hearing in my left ear, so I am getting my right ear done first next week on Feb 4, 2019. So excited! I need some advice. They tell me that I get two processors. What should I do? I like the new Rondo 2, but don't know if I should get two of the same, or get an on the ear processor as well as the Rondo. I would be curious what other people decided to do and why you made that decision. Anyway, here we go!!!
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted January 25, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 25, 2019 How exciting @Monte and welcome to HearPeers! Which CI center are you using? I go to New York Eye & Ear in NYC. I LOVE my bilateral CIs. They have been life changing. I wish you the best on your hearing journey. Is your other ear a candidate for the EAS Sonnet which uses both HA and CI built into one processor? If yes, you may want to choose one Sonnet and one Rondo 2 for your first side. If not, you could choose 2 Rondo 2s if the one piece processor design appeals more to you. I have both BTE processors and one piece Rondo 1 processors and love them both. HearPeers Heroes Mary Featherston Posted January 25, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 25, 2019 Hi @Monte, welcome! You are in exactly the place I was in last year. My first side was implanted in April and the second in October. If it were me I'd choose one Sonnet and one Rondo2 for each side, just for the flexibility. I have both and like them in different situations - with my Sonnets at work I can deal with lots of background noise, but the Rondo2s are great for exercise or home use.
