Hi Everyone

I am new to this and I have questions to ask

1. How long did you all have to wait until you could actually recieve the Impant ? What was your porcess? Did you have to gain Med. Psychiatrist / psychiattrist? I am close on this and told to go into this with EXCITMENT.

Thank You

Lori

I'm pretty sure there won't be just one answer.  My insurance didn't even require pre-approval for the CI - though my clinic did, they like to be sure they're getting paid.  So I saw the surgeon in February, had my first surgery in April.  There was no psychiatric or psychological approval or involvement.

But I'm with you on the excitement!

Hi

The reason why they directed myself in this particular situation is because I carry dizziness and I'm currently off balance.

I am on medication to help but not completely.

My understanding is they are perparing myself before and after.

I am just awaiting!!

Thanks

There is no one answer on your inquiry everyone is different. I am bilateral so I had  two operations one in 2016 and 2018.Getting approval from insurance no problems my biggest hold up setting the appointment with the hospital as my surgeon had 3 days a month at the hospital.Just a physical exam from my primary doc and I was on my way. I was very fortunate didn’t require pain meds I had no problems.

Good Luck Keep us posted

I had an appt with the surgeon in Dec 2014.

Went for audiological testing and a MRI in January 2015.

Had another appt with the surgeon and audiologist in early Feb 2015 at which time the surgery date was scheduled.

In addition, I had a pre operative physical with my primary care physician and vaccinations.

A typical part of the process is to determine if we are mentally/emotionally ready to start this journey.  It is not unusual for candidates to meet with social workers/etc as part of the qualifying process.

Wishing you the best on your journey.

Hi everyone

It's been awhile and some struggles along the way.

Many testing. But overall doing good.

Had hearing tests completed to basically rule illnesses out for the unbalance and dizziness that I'm currently dealing with.

The Psychiatry that is working with me say that I'm ready for the Cochlear implant.

It's been a year and going into five months.

I now have a new therapist that just got on board.

I believe I'm just awaiting for a call from my implant manager.

Thank you

Lori

Hi everyone

It's been awhile since I wrote. I'm hanging in there with all.

I had a question for single sided deafness which I am.

I have been going through med. Psychiatry and therapy to be ready.

Now they are saying that my insurance may deny.

I have Maine care and Medicare any of you out there ever had this issue.

My team is so behind me with all.

Now I am basically just waiting.

Hi Nischal Koirala

My implant of choice was

Implant SYNCHRONY FLEX 28 with a back up FLEX 24 implant.

Sound Processor  1. Round 2 light brown color & 1. SONNET in Nordic Grey color option

Coil Cable Nordic Grey Color

Magnet Strength 1. 4 and 1. 5 Nordic Coil Cover Color.

Rechargable Batteries 2 Standard + 2 Micro Rechargable Kit, 1 Sonnet Battery Frame

Accessories  Roger Pen/ 21 (Nordic Grey)

I was also chosen a Magnetic processor as well.

I am single sided deafness with low hearing on the left.

I do have a process disorder along with this and doing the best I can with all.

It has been hard extremely work to say the least. But hey I got this.

May I ask how long your surgery was?

Your not alone!

@Lori Martin

My surgery was done before a week by now.It took some 2-2:30 hours. I'm Bilateral hearing loss but I've done only in one side.

My implant was also Synchrony + Flex 28 .

Hearpeers

I made it through the first step.

Surgery was three hours.

I am home resting and will have to take it easy for at least a month.

Next is activation on December 9th.

Then more follow ups.

December, January, March

Hopefully I am done after that.

Thank you all for being here on this forum.

Hi to hearpeers

Question ?

After you had your surgery did any of you experience verdigo and dizziness along with being nausea.

Been sick every single day 😫

Verdigo seems to be getting better, but the dizziness is just there.

Does this take time?
