HearPeers Heroes Jewel Posted May 6, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 6, 2019 @MED-EL Moderator Are you able to say whether Med-El is exploring alternatives to Waterwear? Or is this something that will also be used with Sonnet 2? I think a lot of people pass on Med-El because there is no waterproof option other than Waterwear which can only be used for a few times and can be costly if you swim a lot. Watersail
I would love, love, love something like the AB's reusable AquaCase and waterproof mic. Jewel

Percy
I agree, the Aquacase and mic would be awesome for MED-EL.
MED-EL Moderator
Hi @Jewel, Thank you for the question and the valuable feedback. We are not able to talk about any future developments or plans on here for regulatory reasons. So unfortunately we can’t answer this particular question. Thank you for understanding and kind regards, Verena
HearPeers Heroes Jewel Posted May 7, 2019 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 7, 2019 @MED-EL Moderator I understand Verena. Thanks. Please convey our concerns to the team though. We get surveyed on activation day but I think a survey a few months after activation would provide more useful feedback to Med-El. The Waterwear alternatives is one issue. HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 7, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 7, 2019 @Jewel I never received a survey.
HearPeers Heroes Jewel Posted May 7, 2019 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 7, 2019 @Mary Beth I'm sure I completed a very detailed questionnaire right before my audi switched me on.
MED-EL Moderator
Hi @Jewel. yes, of course! We always appreciate first-hand feedback from our users. I have passed your feedback (regarding WaterWear as well as the survey) on to the responsible teams here at HQ. Kind regards, Verena Jewel
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 7, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 7, 2019 @Jewel I believe you. I just don’t think I have ever participated in a Med-El survey. I think a Med-El survey of users/parents is a fabulous idea as long as it could be administered in a way that guaranteed only actual users/parents participated. Direct feedback by many users/parents would be beneficial to any CI company. When our comments get filtered through audiologists and reps too much important info is accidentally altered or lost. I would love to see an international user/parent survey administered by Med-El. Jewel
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 18, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 18, 2019 @Jewel I was chatting with an AB user who is an avid surfer. He hates the aquacase and the waterproof mic/coil. He says the sound quality is terrible after just one use. That is what concerns me with other waterproof options. I love the sound quality of Rondo 1 in waterwear and use it often. I do not want to trade great sound quality for a cheaper waterproof option. However, waterwear gets very expensive if used often. I wish Med-El could offer the same waterwear covers at a reduced price. Or even have those on sale from time to time. Or promos like buy 3 get the fourth one free. It does get expensive. HearPeers Heroes Jewel Posted May 20, 2019 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 @Mary Beth Yes having a promo for the Waterwear would be good. I am not sure if I'm gonna use the Waterwear with my Sonnet. I don't think I can use the EarGear along with the Waterwear for Sonnet and I don't want to lose my processor while swimming. HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 20, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 @Jewel waterwear with Rondo is my preferred set up.
HearPeers Heroes Jewel Posted May 20, 2019 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 20, 2019 @Mary Beth It would be mine too, except that I don't have any Waterwear for Rondo2 and can't get any until I go to the US. I guess I will just swim without a processor in the meanwhile.
mshaley2
I just bought water wear for my son and a head band... can they be used at the same time?
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted June 18, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted June 18, 2019 @mshaley2 yes. I use waterwear, EarGear covers with tether and clip and a Nammucap at the same time with my Rondos and it works great. mshaley2

perico
Hi all. We have a very cheap alternative to WaterWear. I mean cents cheap. Just using party rubber balloons. For example, the 5"" or 12cm ones. Insert the Rondo inside and make a knot. No water at all gets inside. For peace of mind you can use the WaterWear and then insert the Rondo in a balloon. But because the WaterWear does not get wet you can use it many more times than only three. Also, you can use balloons of colours, kids love them. Finally, we use a swimming cap to hold it in place, so that the Rondo does not fall to the bottom of the swimming pool if it detaches. Enjoy. HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted December 8, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 8, 2019 @perico I love Rondo in waterwear. It is comfortable, stays completely dry and sounds great. I put the Rondo in waterwater with its seal, then in EarGear covers with a tether clipped to my suit and then a nammucap (very light and comfortable) for extra safety. This works great for me and I have been swimming in the ocean with this set up ever since Med-El released the waterwear. I would not risk my Rondo processors by going into the water without the waterwear and its seal.
