Aural rehab tips from Mary Beth

Recommended Posts

Note:  CLIX is an excellent aural rehab app, especially for new CI users.  It is presently not available in the App Store.  Hopefully it will return.  It is based on the Listening Ladder by Dave Sindrey.  He also published reproducible worksheets following the same Listening Ladder.  Those can be found here:

Hi Mary Beth

Cochlear America requires an address in USA or Canada. I need a valid address from someone.

I don’t know if the phone number works outside the US and Canada.

Here we just call

(800) 458-4999

and can read the transcript online at

https://www.cochlear.com/us/communication-corner/program/adult-telephone.htm

@Jewel, were you able to access it?

@Mary Beth

Yes I bought a Magic Jack specifically for accessing that.

@Mary Beth

It is a small device that uses VOIP, Voice over Internet Protocol. For a relatively small annual fee (USD39.99) you can make unlimited calls to the US and Canada.  You can can call other countries too for a small additional charge.

I have used it for the Cochlear line and to call Med-El as the regular landline prices here for international calls are expensive.

I got mine at Walmart. I think Americans probably use it for free local calls.

Thanks, that explains the set locations.

You are welcome @Marlene

I have Rondo 1 processors and I use a BlueTooth neckloop, called Artone 3 MAX, to stream audio from my phone and iPad. I listen to audiobooks, podcasts, Ted Talks, music and work on listening activities.

How are you connecting to your phone or tablet to listen?
