Honestly I had so many questions/concerns going into today, I had a bit of a breakdown last night. Taking my new hearing aid off and realizing just how much nothing I can hear...It was really emotional for me. And then I started getting wrapped around the axle on all the things that could go wrong today and it just wrecked me, and my wife. But, now that's all behind me. Also, I notice that on the forms I was given (Warranty form I'm looking at) to send in that the serial numbers don't seem to correlate with the serial number stickers on my actual processors (that are on the area just inside the battery door)? We have so many serial numbers....our internals have serial numbers and each processor has a serial number and the coils I believe also have serial numbers and the remote and the AudioLink! It has two serial number stickers for each of my two Sonnet 2 processors. However, the serial numbers don't match what's on the processors themselves under the battery cover. I'm just trying to figure out if I should put in the serial number off one of the processors stickers, or the serial number off one of the processors themselves, or the serial number off the implant (which I don't actually have right now)... If yes, do that first. Then wait for it to be received by Med-El US. Basically just turned everything up, and now have four new programs to try and get used to. Possible I won’t be able to get to them all; simply depends on what kind of stimulation I need I guess. I am in the low 30s on power input which is reasonably high I guess, particularly at this point. We did a little time in the sound booth as well; I am detecting sound in the 20-25 dB range depending on frequency. We also did some word repetition; I got some, missed some. She was speaking the words with her mouth covered (though I was looking at the floor of the booth anyway, concentrating) and started out at a “normal” volume and then lowered the volume a couple times as she was reading. The lowest level I think I only got one out of the handful she said. Overall though my audiologist was very pleased with this. Listened in to a phone call streaming when I got home for 35 minutes and it was rough; my wife was on the same call via her phone and she said the audio was not great. I got maybe 1/3 of the words. Wasn’t thrilled with that. Right after though I streamed some YouTube and it was fine, could get probably 75% (no captioning). More than enough to know what MKBHD was speaking about. Next follow-up in a month but the direction in the meantime is to keep doing what I’m doing (movies, YouTube, audiobooks, conversing one on one, spending the evenings CI only). We spoke briefly at the end of the appointment about planning for my left ear; she is going to speak to my surgeon about starting that process off for later this year. I was tested in the booth every time for beeps but we did not do formal speech testing until 3 months after activation. So much changes so fast in these early weeks. You can use Telephone With Confidence to. Test your phone progress too. I had an initial test for speech end of June after 1 month activation, not in the booth but with the specialist in her office. Have been told that sometime next month I have another test in booth at the hospital before another mapping and another speech test with specialist.. So wondering if the next one will be mostly speech as by then it will be 4 months activated. @phobos512 Mobile phones not for me easy either, but then I tell myself ,it takes time , so even if two words that's great. Although it would be lovely if my lovely Mum, stops jumping out in front of me whenever she has a video call on her phone to get me to have a chat to whoever it is!!!😱 .It is a little off putting. I asked if the AudioStream can be ordered yet so my audiologist is checking on that with MED-EL. I suspect not yet so I'll just order something else and not open it up in the hope of exchanging it.
