We need it here. 3 hrs after the August chat with every one, there was a smell ( so I'm told) and eerie sky , there had been a fire 15 km from where we live!!! But then we are in the month when fires strikes. @Tracey_66 Yikes! Bushfires seem to go hand in hand with summers. Which state are you? Apparently we had an earthquake this morning but I didn't hear (processor was off) or feel anything. Thinking of packing a go bag. Right now I keep all my CI stuff in a drawer. Guess I ought to put some in the go bag but there are things we use everyday that I only have one of. So I can picture myself just pulling out the whole drawer and running with it if necessary 😂. HearPeers Heroes Mary Featherston Posted August 4, 2020 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 4, 2020 Good to hear, @Jewel! I did go look up the path of the hurricane it looked as though you got off fairly lightly this time. Jewel
Tracey_66
@Jewel I'm in Spain. We seem to be having a lot more fires this month than usual. You had an earthquake!!! 😱 Fingers crossed that you won't have any more chaos this month. Jewel
HearPeers Heroes Valentin Posted August 7, 2020 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 7, 2020 @Tracey_66 I always though in hear similar thant I remembered before. It was hard and today sometimes the situation is something hard because I suffer from migraines and these affect to hearing. I went for a few months to a rehabilitation specialist for people with implants, but after that the work I have done has been on my own, listening a lot and with some applications shared by other people in the forum. Tracey_66
@Valentin Did you go to the rehabilitation specialist like once a day in a week or more. How long did you go for ? A month or more.? I'll be seeing my specialist on Thursday before she is on her holiday for all of August. I've been seeing her 2 times a week then once a week, since June. (All in Spanish by the way!). When did your rehabilitation stop was it after the 3rd mapping/test. Migraines are not nice. I'm fortunate not to have inherited it, as my nana, mum, sister and now my neice struggled with it in their lives . As for my niece she's nearly 15 now and we've found out, that for her, it is cheese that gives her really bad migraines....
HearPeers Heroes Valentin Posted August 8, 2020 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 8, 2020 @tracey_66, I've been going to the audiologist for 3 months, but it's nothing coordinated with the implant center. I went twice a week during that time. How did you find out what the cheese was the origin of migrains? Did you did any tests? In my case they're very bad, they're similar to a cerebral stroke. Luckily they have nothing to do with that but they're very scary. What is certain is that migraines and hearing are related. When I have an attack, my hearing is much worse during the following days. Tracey_66
@Valentin Looks like I have another month maybe with the specialist in September? Hmm will see. We went through the process of eliminating what foods didn't give my niece her migraines over a period of time. My niece has a fructose intolerance anyway; so we looked at dairy products. As some can cause intolerances as well. We went through all the dairy products until we got to the cheeses!! I had no idea that migraines can be related to hearing problems. Interesting to know.
