If the AudioStream is a slide cover for the battery, then I don't see why it comes with a battery frame?? And obviously it should be cheaper on it's own... I'd have thought. AU$340 by itself

Lets hope that it'll at least be tax (VAT) free.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted December 25, 2020 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 25, 2020 @Mr-LJ I heard that the AudioStream requires a different battery pack to ensure it has the battery power needed to work. My understanding is that new battery pack can remain on the Sonnet/Sonnet 2 for use without the AudioStream too. Let’s check with @MED-EL Moderatorafter the holiday break about the new battery pack for Sonnets & AudioStream.

I never thought about that, and it makes sense... but if it is low power BT would it need so much power?? Good idea, let's ask the moderator! That's not ideal... Do we know if the AudioStream requires any setup beyond whatever device syncing and AudioKey 2 app setup is required, i.e. the help of one's audiologist? HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted December 27, 2020 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 27, 2020 @phobos512 A different battery pack. Maybe @Kylie knows what that looks like? A battery pack for disposable batteries or a battery adapter for rechargeable batteries? No audiologist set up needed as far as I know. We set it up in AudioKey 2. HearPeers Heroes polyesternapkinstowaway Posted December 27, 2020 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 27, 2020 @Mary Beth Maybe I'm missing something. I sure hope that the AudioStream doesn't require something other than the standard- or micro-sized rechargeable or standard dual zinc-air battery frame. It would be a big detriment to be incompatible with all the batteries folks are likely to already have in hand.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted December 27, 2020 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 27, 2020 @phobos512 The way I understand it is the batteries remain the same. There is a different battery frame but the different battery frame can just stay on always and use the same batteries. After the holiday break I am sure @MED-EL Moderator will help us understand this better. Jared Charney
viewcrow
Hi All, I posted earlier last year on this thread. Just come off the Med-el UK shop, the AudioStream adaptor is a whopping £240 GBP and that is a sale price. I checked my battery frame (disposable type), and as I have a Sonnet 1, I need a new battery frame to make my Sonnet compatible with an AudioStream adaptor. Therefore, buying an AudioStream adaptor and battery frame together is £300 GBP, again a sale price. My daughter got Apple AirPods for £125!! I am all for advancing specialist technology, although I do strongly feel I am not being unreasonable in stating that is plainly unfair pricing from Med-el. For reference, £300 GBP is $412 USD - you can actually buy a brand new iPhone in the US and have some dollars left over for this kind of money. EDIT - Just realised the £300 does not include UK Tax. So AudioStream is a MASSIVE £360 including shipping!! A good $500 USD!! Sorry Med-el, that makes me angry and disappointed.
