Rondo 2 charging strangely

Last night I took out the rondo 2 while it was charging and then after using it for some times I again placed it for charging but the red light which indicates charging was blinking every 1-2 seconds rather than indicating continuously which is totally strange!

Did anyone faced same experience or do you guys know what happened or what to do?

Sad update: I took it off the charger again and placed it back now it's not even blinking (red light of the processor) which I think means it's not charging 😭😭😭😭😭 😭

@Mary Beth thanks for tagging us!

@Nischal Koirala sorry to hear about your issues!

Unfortunately it's hard to assist you remotely if you have already tried the troubleshooting steps and they have not solved the problem.

Therefore, I'd recommend you get in touch with your local MED-EL team, so they can have a look at your processor and try to find a solution. Do you have their contact details? I think you've been in touch with Shefali, correct? I can send you her contact details again via private message if you want.

Best, Verena

Hi @Anima, thanks for reaching out to us.

Have you been in touch already with your local MED-EL team about this issue? They are best placed to support you as they can take a closer look at your RONDO 2. If you let us know your contact details (please send them to us in a private message) we are happy to forward this information to the right team here at MED-EL.

You can also check our website for MED-EL specialists near you: Clinic Finder (medel.com)

In general, when charging RONDO 2 it is important to place it in the center of the charging pad for a stable connection - as you can see in the video below.

Kind regards,

Barbara

@Animahere are my two cents worth of thoughts. If everything I suggest below is known to you, I apologise in advance::::

First. If the Rondo 2 behaves the same way as my Rondo 3 it will switch off automatically when placed on the charging pad. This is normal and different from what happens if you use the USB cable to charge: see more later.

Second: the positioning of the processor on the charging pad is a bit finicky. I find I have to move it around until the yellow charging light on the bottom of the processor illuminates. But that is not the end of the problem. You have to ensure it stays illuminated. I have started checking it five minutes later. I forgot last night and sure enough this morning the processor had not recharged and I had to use the USB cable to recharge it quickly.

Thirdly: I was advised by our local Med-El rep that recharging using the USB cable is quicker and better than using the pad. I have found him to be totally correct but because I am fundamentally lazy, I find it less hassle to use the charging pad for all its finickiness. Today when I used the USB cable, in extremis, it gave me enough charge for a day in about 45' and a full charge for 18+ hours in about 1.5 hours.

Fourthly: When you charge using the USB cable the processor does NOT turn off. This, too, is by design because it means that you can attach the USB to a power bank and wear the processor at that same time as you charge it. I have done this when needing to use my processor at the end of the day when it was running out of power: very useful.

I hope this helps.

hi, do you mean mini-battery pack as usb cable charger?

No. I am talking about connecting the USB end of the charging cable to an external potable Power Bank. Connect the other end to the Rondo and bingo you can sit and listen while the Rondo charging itself from the power bank. I have a small 10,000 maH power bank, (see picture) for emergency charging of my iPhone, iPad, Rondo etc.

The other key point I was making is that the behaviour of the Rondo differs depending on the recharging system used. When you locate the Rondo on the charging pad, it switches off automatically. When you recharge using the USB charging cable, the Rondo does not switch off which is what allows me to listen and charge at the same time.

I hope this helps.

I see you are using portable power bank which i have done same around 2 years back in travelling, i had to used charging pad with portable power bank. now i have got built in charging pad in portable power bank and easy to charge without using external charging pads and usb cable.

I'm not as up to date as you are. I only have a good old fashioned power bank; but can you charge and use the processor at the same time?

@Salik

post a picture of how you charge please

normally charge from the wireless charging pad which came with Rondo 2 kits. i think Rondo 2 only get charge via  wireless charging only.
