I started a HP mail for January’s GoogleMeet.  Look at the top under menu and select the envelope.  Links to how to use GoogleMeet with free live captions on a computer and on a tablet are in the group HP mail.

As we spoke about tonight with my terrific CI program here in Perth - this is my audiologist, with her special interest in SSD.

Someone might glean further info from her publications listed above!

@Kylie

Terrific links!  Thank you.  You are so lucky to be under her care as a single sided deaf CI user.

@Kirk S. Check out the links Kylie shared above.

It occurred to me (after Kirk signed off) that if he's still struggling with his rehab AND assuming that's he's going to travel outside Japan to get an English-speaking audiologist, that going to Perth to Kylie's clinic might not be a bad idea.

Hi Mary Beth, Kylie, et al.

Thanks for the great chat on Sunday. I enjoyed it and I learned at lot, as always. Enjoying and learning are equally important in my book!

Thanks also for the links for Kylie’s audiologist. I researched some Info about her last year, so I know she’s considered a top SSD specialist. I’ve already looked through a couple of her academic papers and I will pass them along to my audiologist in Tokyo. Like many professionals in Japan, my audiologist (Kubota-san) can read and write English reasonably well (especially within her professional specialty), but can’t actually speak the language worth a darn! Considering that more than 98% of the people who live in Japan are born and raised in Japan, there’s little incentive for anyone her to actually learn how to SPEAK English. So that’s a little challenging.  But, the food’s great!

Look forward to our next chat next month. Best, Kirk
