virgi
Last week, Angie F., a fellow MED-EL recipient participated as a panelist for the monthly Utah Division of Services to the D/HOH virtual meeting titled, Humor and Hearing Loss: Successful Living with Hearing Loss Panel Discussion. The panelists shared their stories of using humor to address hearing loss. For example, when confronted with many facemasks on medical personnel at the beginning of the COVID era, “Angie warned them, ‘Wait! I don’t speak mask!’ Another gentleman, a hearing aid wearer, shared that when entering a meeting, he wears Mickey Mouse ears as a gentle reminder about his hearing loss. The same gentleman also shared that after finally getting his hearing aids, he discovered that much to his dismay, his not-so-silent farts were actually pretty loud! Please share some humorous stories or ways that you provide gentle reminders from your experience with hearing loss! Looking forward to laughing together!
