Ear Saving!

Hey all!

Random question...

I have been searching of a way to save my ears from pain when wearing a mask, an implant, and glasses.

I know there are things like the monkey clip - lol - that can go behind the head and stretch out the straps. I'm totally open to that; bit I'm also wondering about headbands.

There are the headbands with the buttons to stretch mask straps. Could those - or any headbands for that matter - be worn with a Sonnet or Rondo? I'm wondering how that would work. Would sound be able to get through a thinner fabric to the microphone of the processor?

Thanks!!!

Headbands definitely work with Sonnets as they can be worn in a way that does not cover the Sonnet mics.

Med-El has the sportsband headband that has pockets for the Rondo.  Buttons could be added to it.  But masks with thin loops do not present any difficulty for me when wearing Rondo processors.  My glasses and thin looped masks get along very well.

I do use a crocheted ear saver with buttons when I wear my Sonnets with masks.  Very comfortable.  No issues.

I use headbands at home all the time! I slide my Sonnet onto it so that the ear hook is hooked onto the headband like it would be on my ear. It frees up my ear and gives them a break 😁 I also use 2 bobby pins - one at the top and one at the bottom to prevent the head band from slipping. If your head band is 2 layers, you can separate the layer and sew a button on for the mask if you wanted (if you sew both layers, it won't stretch the way it usually does resulting in the thread breaking if it is a knit head band).

Smart Ears from Poland sells sports headbands that fits the Rondo, at a fraction of the cost as the Med El sports band.  My 11 yo has been very happy with it that we just ordered two more. I imagine it would be fairly easy to sew two buttons onto it.
