HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 25, 2021 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 25, 2021 I LOVE the AudioStream! Thank you to the Med-El engineers who designed AudioStream! @MED-EL Moderator Terrific audio quality and music sounds amazing! Phone calls take precedence and then we return automatically to whatever we were streaming. There are audible “thunk” sounds when it connects and switches. This is a fabulous connectivity device for Sonnet/Sonnet 2. I am using Power One implant disposable batteries. The slightly longer battery cover does not bother me. HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 25, 2021 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 25, 2021 By the way- moving my Sonnet 1 volume AND sensitivity both to the lowest settings possible on my FineTuner....and the volume almost to full max on my iPhone.... results in a mix which seems to be about 85/15 or 80/20. Sonnet mics not as quiet as the 90/10 DAI cable but much quieter than the AudioStream’s default 50/50 mix.
Jared Charney
Do you think you will still use the Artone or just the Audiostream?
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 26, 2021 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 26, 2021 @Jared Charney I am still playing with the AudioStream in different situations. It really is great for streaming music. If you are in a quiet location the default 50/50 mix is fine as the Sonnet mics are not picking up noise in the environment because you are in a quiet place. When cooking last night the noise from the range fan, pots and pans etc was a bother. I turned my Sonnet volume and sensitivity down as far as it would go and then turned up the volume on my phone. It ended up being close to max. I could still hear the range fan and pots and pans but they were quiet so it was okay. (The Artone on T blocks out ALL environmental noise so that is quite lovely.) Phone calls with AudioStream are seamless. The phone gives the call priority and then returns you to streaming music automatically. But it feels awkward to have to hold the phone to speak into it or have it set on the table and remember not to walk away from it so others can hear you. (The Artone is hands free completely for calls. You answer the call on the Artone- do not need to return to your phone to answer the call like you do with the AudioStream. And there is a mic on the Artone that picks up your voice for the other person to hear you.) So I think I will use both. The AudioStream is great. If I leave it attached (I don’t mind the slightly longer length.) it is always with me and always a streaming option. And again MUSIC sounds very good with AudioStream. Being bilateral, I especially enjoy the separate left and right instrumentals. The only other way I experience that is with my BOSE QC35 headphones. (Which are amazing! But I only use headphones when traveling.). And AudioStream can be used in situations where the Artone experiences EMI buzzing- like vehicles as a passenger. Sorry. Much longer answer than you probably wanted. Smile. I will use them both. Today I am going to see how difficult it is to switch back and forth on the same phone. Jared Charney
@JustinI'm curious about your reactions to the AudioStream and if you have the ARtone if you are going to use both/etc. I know I'm going to purchase the AudioStream as I think it will be a good fit for my lifestyle I'm just trying to decide if I should keep the ARtone one thing that is disappointing about the ROndo3 is that I guess I have to add the Tcoil if I want to use the ARtone and I wish they could have kept it inside the Rondo etc, thanks guys! On another note my cousin who works for Bose sent me one of their Sunglasses with speakers and I thought it would be gimmicky but I absolutely love them as the speaker plays into the CI microphone-- Dani
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 26, 2021 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 26, 2021 @Jared Charney Will you post a pic of the BOSE sunglasses with speakers? I never heard of that.
Dani
I have all three: Artone, AudioLink and AudioStream I've bought the Artone so that I can listen to my TV as long as I was bimodal last year. But I rarely used it. Instead most of the time I used the AudioLink for TV streaming and my HA-ear just listened to the TV speakers. This was not perfect but ok for me. Since I am bilateral in January 2021 there is no need for me for Artone MAX. I still use AudioLink for TV streaming. Since nearly a month I have my versions of AudioStream for both sides. I love them. When phoning my iPhone now streams to both Sonnet 2 instantly. I do not have to connect them explicitly every day and the stream is very robust. But I have to keep an eye on the status of my AudioLink. As soon as this is charging in the nearby then it is connected to my iPhone, too. It looks like the iPhone preferes to stream via AudioLink over streaming via MFi. In this case you cannot use iPhone's built-in microphone but have to use AudioLink's microphone. And you have to remember to use it in this case 🤪 This is what I have forgotten to remember on a phonecall yesterday so I wondered why my callee did hardly understand what I said. The AudioLink layed in the next room ... (Btw the problem only arises while phoning (telephone-app or WhatsApp, etc.). Music or yt-video (A2DP) is always being streamed via MFi as long as Med-EL's app Audio2Ear is not switched on). Jared Charney

Jared Charney
Yeah, I had my kids listen and you have to be almost leaning on the person to hear it! also, I think they actually look good and are def. comfortable. and I don't have to hold the phone to talk etc Mary Beth
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 26, 2021 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 26, 2021 @Jared Charney I suppose we could order them with regular lenses to use inside right?

Jared Charney
@Mary BethI'm pretty you can but since I got it as a surprise gift I'm not positive but I think that makes the most sense otherwise they would lose a lot of sales Mary Beth
Kerem Ozcan
Hello there, Good luck with your Audiostream product. Is it possible for you to add as an image? Can it connect to all phones? I have a phone running Android 11. It will probably adapt. Is it possible to see the user manual?
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted April 12, 2021 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted April 12, 2021 @Kerem Ozcan AudioStream info can be found here https://blog.medel.pro/sonnet-direct-streaming/ There is a link to compatible phones/tablets. I have not seen the AudioStream manual online. Kerem Ozcan
