EJCorpCruz
Hello! I received an implant in December 2014 and got it activated on the day before New Year's Eve. I have a question I've been wondering about. Since MED-EL offers the latest technology of cochlear implant including the preservation of residual hearing, will remaining residual hearing be affected more if I decided to have the CI removed surgically? Just wondering... Quote Link to comment https://forum.hearpeers.com/topic/677-residual-hearing/ Share on other sites
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted May 21, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 21, 2015 Why would you have the ci removed voluntarily? Well regardless of the reason, I would doubt there is too much data out there to answer your question, as there has been VERY few cases where a medel device needed to be explanted compared to other CI manufacturers, especially voluntarily. HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted May 21, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 21, 2015 Well, taking into account that taking out literally means "brushing up" individual's cochlea - inspite of special care, damage could be done.
