I was directed to this forum after doing internet research on cochlear implants. I’m a Menieres Disease patient having mostly dealt with single sided hearing loss and very little vestibular impact (silver lining). Had loss on all high frequency hearing with tinnitus since 17 then started my episodes in 2008, 2016, and now 2021. The third time the sudden hearing loss did not come back with steroid treatments. Now a month into treatment it looks like this loss is permanent making me a candidate for CI. I was using a WidEx hearing aid with Zen profiles that helped me tune out tinnitus. Now that hearing aid won’t work. Understand CI now a good option for me. Hoping to learn more from this community.

@elmatador43

Welcome to HearPeers.

I had Ménière’s disease prior to losing all hearing in that ear when we did a transcanal labrynthectomy to get rid of the Ménière’s vertigo issues.  Wishing you the best on your CI journey.

Oh wow. It does seem you have benefits tremendously from CIs. Looking forward to getting acquainted here with others.

Hi @elmatador43! I’m in San Jose too.  I can help with your journey in person if you like as well.  I do not have Ménière’s but I am bilaterally implanted!

Happy to answer any questions you may have.  Cheers!

Hey @Dennisjbrthat would be fantastic. Curious to know. I’m a patient of Dr. Jennifer Maw. Let’s talk more and would love to meet in person. Happy to reach out via this forum but would be ideal by text.
