KatePoland
My son’s processor sonnet 2 got stolen. We still have sonnet 1 but he got synchrony 2 because he had to undergo reoperation. Will sonnet 1 processor work with synchrony 2? Or do we need to wait for insurance company to provide us with sonnet 2?
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted July 17, 2021 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 17, 2021 @KatePoland I am not sure where you are but check with Med-El to see if you have one time loss/damage coverage on the stolen Sonnet2. In the US, we have that coverage for a few years. Yes Sonnet 1 will work with the new internal Synchrony 2 implant. In fact. Med-El makes all future new processors compatible with all older internals so we can always use new processors . (In your case you are planning on using an older processor on a newer internal. That works too.)
Dennisjbr
I was told that the only difference between the Synchrony 1 and 2 is the placement of the electrode leads. The 1 has it further on a side and the 2 has it directly in the middle. Everything else is the same. It does seem it can handle TESLA 3.0 now for MRI but again nothing ot do with processors. Example here is a pic of the 2: and the 1:
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted July 18, 2021 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 18, 2021 Yes Med-El made that change so it is easier for our surgeons. With the lead centered, left and right surgeries are more similar.
