Andrew42
Activation with a Rondo 3 next week. I am a little twitched becasue there appears to be little/no assistance here in Switzerland for people who are retired. I have downloaded all the ARK 1 -7. I have also added the APP Hear Today Lite on my iPhone but I cannot find any user manual for it and it seems only to work in Landscape. I have foud the questionnaire but there is not point in going through it until I have some experience. Other than the questionnaire, language selection and some legal stuff I have not found out how to explore its contents. Can anbody advise me on good rehab articles/excercises that can be done at home particularly those that include sound, (speech or music). Obviously, at this stage, I have no clue how much I will be able to understand immediately post activation. I'm fascinated to find out. Any thoughts/advice is very welcome. Andrew42
Thank you very much. I have bookmarked your site and will read it with great interest. Your quotation of a Journey starting with a little step reminded me of compulsory reading at my Swiss Business School many years ago: Chairman Mao's little Red Book. Andrew42
Hear Today App. I filled in the quesionnaire and received a message to Upgrade to the full version. Tried but failed as Hear Today (Full version) is not available in my area. I swtiched from the UK app store to the Swiss one with the same result. It appears the full version may only be available across the pond.
pdk
Hi Andrew I suggest you download Angel , read the manual and use the assessment modules to get some idea of how well you are doing. It really is an amazing program.
Andrew42
Thanks@pdk. I have downloaded Angel and will work through it. Regarding Hear Today App: I was in contact with Med-El directly about it and eventually steered in the right direction. Summary: Hear Today full app is only available to professionals. Hear Today Lite is for single use and available for free. Despite what the introduction seems to say you cannot set goals and you cannot save the answers to the questionnaire. When you answer a question in the questionnaire the tips and suggestions change depending on the answer you give. This is not immediately apparent on an iPhone since the programme only shows in Landscape and so the changes happen off screen and are invisible unlesss you know to scroll down. There are no excercises, practical steps or tests. Frankly, to me it is pretty useless as an app and I have removed it from my iPhone. pdk
It was worth a try. Better luck with angel.
Andrew42
I have started with Angel. I am concentrating, at the moment, on consonants, as that is where, along with music, I believe I have the greatest problem. I am enjoying the excercise and finding it surprisingly stressful in that unless I concentrate really hard I miss too much. Part of my difficlutly is that the speech is clearly American and, as you may know, we are two people divided by a common language. Tom-Ate-O, Tom-Ah-To is just the tip of the iceberg. pdk
The American accent is a big challenge for English speaking people (no comments) . I enjoy the sentences with my android app which only shows the text when asked. I can repeat many times and eventually have to display it. Have lots of smiles when I see what is really there. Music is the greatest challenge. Find out which instruments sound good and then choose music with them in. You can listen to many instrument recordings Check my website https://pdkknight.editorx.io/getanearful/blank-10 Near bottom of page.
AnnetteT
@Andrew42 and @pdk, I found that Hearoes has British, Australian, and American accents available. https://www.games4hearoes.com/ . (There is a flag in the upper right hand corner of the screen that you can click on to change accents). Hopefully it's available internationally (it's at least available in Australia, given the Australian location mentioned on their website). pdk
Hearoes is available on playstore. It's a great app. AnnetteT
Andrew42
@AnnetteTI have downloaded the app on my Ipad. Originally I ended up with something called Acoustic Protocol which I subsequently deleted but then I found a second Heroes on the app store and downloaded that. I haven't yet created a profile but thank you for the tip-off. I have been in as a guest and looked at the first screens and read "what's new" which mentioned the Brittish accents so I know that I'm now in the right place.
