putzie
Adam: I have always had problems with phones and my audi said I always will have some issues. I have tried every phone out there with every gadget available. I use my cell phone as little as possible and only with my family, who don't mind repeating themselves. But...I could not function without my CapTel for my land line. It's great when I have hung up and want to review the conversation...only problem is when I am in another room and have to run to answer it. HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted December 31, 2015 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 31, 2015 Putzie I no longer have any issues talking on the phone. We no longer have a landline. We all use our cellphones only. Each cell phone has a t and m rating 1 - 4 T is telecoil and M is microphone. Whenever shopping for a cell phone try to find the highest rated phone. The one I have now I believe is rated M4 and T4. This means I should be able to hear quite well. The lower the number, the lower the chance of hearing clearly. All that being said, I might hear very well on an m4 android and somebody else might not. It took some testing but I finally have a cell phone that I have no problems hearing on. If it is noisy, I just put on the telecoil
HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted December 31, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 31, 2015 I can hear on my iPhone. Still working on phone calls but the sound quality is good.
HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted January 1, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 1, 2016 Which phone do you use Adam? Or at least have experience? I am not certain that at each location where cell phone can be bought salesmen know these stuff about the designation of M and T. I also found out this today. HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted January 1, 2016 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 1, 2016 You bring up a good point Ivana. The salesman might know the rating but have no clue what it means. What I have found over the last couple of years was that it is even added to the features description next to the phone in the store. I t is now required that all hearing aids in the U.S. Be equipped with telecoil and the phone companies followed suit. I had a Blackberry mainly because of the keyboard. Got it before my CI's. After getting my CI's, using the telecoil was TERRIBLE. Very bad feedback as soon as the phone got close to my ear. Couldn't really hear well without the telecoil either. I then switched to a galaxy. Wasn't very good either. Then a good friend of mine in another state was going to upgrade his IPhone when he got back to the states from being deployed. It was an IPhone 4. I really had no issues with it at all could hear with the telecoil or without. It was old when I got it, a couple of months ago started having trouble with not receiving texts or people getting texts but being VERY delayed in Sending. I was able to upgrade to the IPhone 6 for next to nothing due to a great deal. I jumped on it and love it. I can hear so well I don't even need the telecoil. Really only use it if I am in a noisy place Ok sorry. That was a very long winded answer to, I have an IPhone
HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted January 1, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 1, 2016 Ok Adam you have me confused. In your first post you say you have a Blackberry. HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted January 2, 2016 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 2, 2016 Kara if the person writing the post is new and you are not familiar with the post they are asking about, it is always good to see when the comment was posted. If it has been a while, you can catch yourself up. Of course I made the same mistake just a week or two ago. Oops

I really should check this forum more often. Ivana Marinac

HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted January 13, 2016 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted January 13, 2016 That is awesome Lenny. Almosupremecommander
Hey thanks Lenny Was just reading this thread and figured out my iPhone 5 has its own t coil too , It's much clearer than trying to position the phone over my hearing aid mic and much faster/easier than plugging in a portable loop . tjwarney
I know I am getting in on this a bit late but this information might help someone out there. Quattro sells and amplified bluetooth neck loop. It pairs to all bluetooth capable phones. When your cell phone rings you put the finer on MT then hit the on button and the call goes directly into your implant. You do not need to hold phone to your ear and the conversation is very clear. However, I prefer iPhone and I'm comfortable with it even if I forget my ALD I can hear from it normally;)
