I often mention how I use an Omni mic setting on my processors.  Omni mic setting uses one mic and gives access to sound from all around us equally.  It does not suppress sounds it deems to be noise. It provides access to all sounds and lets our brains filter out noise, like acoustically hearing people.

In this excellent video from the American Cochlear Implant Alliance, Kelly discusses how he also chooses to use a program without any noise suppression as his everyday program.
