As a Teacher of the Deaf ensuring that children with hearing loss have excellent access to audio in schools is very important to me.  The Roger system is a trusted, reliable top performer in schools.  Its use of microphones and its ability to automatically adapt in noise puts it in a class by itself in my opinion for hearing assistive technology in schools.

Sonnet/Sonnet2 and the new Sonnet 3 have a way to easily work with Roger transmitters (teacher mics).  It’s called the Roger 21 integrated receiver and it is a special battery cover that fits on Sonnet/Sonnet2/Sonnet3 when using disposable batteries or standard rechargeable batteries.

Rondo 3 now will also have a way to access Roger transmitters in schools.  As long as the Rondo 3 is using its AudioStream adapter, it can connect to the new AudioLink XT.  And the AudioLink XT has a FM adapter which allows a Roger X receiver to be attached.  Sound travels from Roger mic to Roger X receiver which is plugged into the AudioLink XT- then the AudioLink XT sends the sound to the Rondo 3 with AudioStream adapter.

Many children love the Rondo 3 since it is an easy processor for young CI users.  But until now, this presented a challenge to Teachers of the Deaf who wanted those young Rondo 3 users to benefit from Roger technology in schools.  We avoid neckloop options due to frequent electromagnetic interference in classrooms so we really needed this option.

Adults also use Roger technology and this expands their options as well.

Roger 21 for Sonnet/Sonnet2/Sonnet3 is sold by Phonak.  In the US, Phonak does not sell directly to users.  Choices include ordering through an audiology practice or ordering online from a vendor who ships internationally.  Price things out as there is usually a significant price difference.  Connevans in the UK ships internationally.

IMPORTANT

Roger systems require BOTH a transmitter and receiver.  They ONLY work together.
