I don't know quite what to expect here.

I had a cochlear implant in my deaf right ear in June 2015, and was activated at the end of July. Immediately upon activation in the audiologist's office I was hearing normal words and conversation...no bells, no buzzes, no cartoon voices.

The level of success is different in every hiring environment.

I'm going to stop hear, and see if I'm just talking to myself.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to hearpeers!! That for sure is an excellent start!! Feel free to share as little or as much as you want about yourself. I am bilateral and have had the implants for almost 5 years. There are a number of great people in this community. Looking forward to getting to know you

Welcome to the "club". Lots of knowledgeable folks here so if you have any questions don't be shy.

Welcome David!! I had a similar experience as you. I was able to hear voices at my activation. Only been activated for 5 weeks. Love every minute!!!

Well, let's be weird as much as we can - the Gang's ENT is checking in. So David, what do you say - can we fulfil at least part of your expectations? :P

Oh, by the way - I am not a CI than a Bonebridge implantee but I like to hang here with the CI Gang! :P:D

This is David again. Wow, I didn't think I'd hear from anyone!

There are two situations in which I hear pretty much perfectly:

1) one-on-one conversations in a quiet room; and

2) On FaceTalk. Try FaceTalk instead of the regular phone. For me it's spectacular!

I also hear my car's GPS woman perfectly.

Getting close with TV and car radio.

David

This is an incredible testimony. So very glad you have had such success so early. Keep working on listening exercises. I'm sure there are better days than even now ahead for you
