M Dodge
I recently spent some time communicating with a gentleman that had reached out to MED-EL about getting a MED-EL CI. He had a lot of questions and wanted to converse with someone about the whole CI experience. After a number of emails with me, he now has an appointment with the hearing center I use to begin the evaluation process. He will have the surgery close to where I live and the follow-on care with an audiologist trained in MED-EL mapping in the city where he lives. I have people stop and talk to me about my CI and ask all sorts of questions. I encourage everyone to be open to discuss your CI experience when asked. There is so many people afraid of going deaf and don't know what options are out there. Many want to hold my processor and look at it closely. Some want to see the implant scar. I also have people that are frustrated because they just had their implant activated and hear nothing but pops and cracks. They want to know when they will start hearing. They just want to talk to someone that can relate. MED-EL Moderator Giulia and Dianna

Enegra
I also don't mind talking about implants and often try to encourage newly activated people. While my journey hasn't been particularly good, for most people it goes a lot better, and I do tell them that if they ask for specifically my own experience. Dianna
💘 i like to be helpful for folks starting out, to be encouraging....i was approached by a darling small lady at a casino! She timidly asked about the work involved with "training". she said she really wanted to hear her granchildren better. I told her i loved my ci and the work involved in development. She then told me she was 90! I told her it takes practice and involving her grand children would be fun. M Dodge
M Dodge
That would be pretty special to hear and interact with your grandchildren in your 90s! Dianna
