HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted August 21, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 21, 2016 I have found this interesting link which explain the situation when a child has certain additional medical condition combined with a need for a cochlear implant. These situations can often be ethically challenging situations: http://www.audiologyonline.com/articles/advanced-management-complex-cases-children-16216
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted September 10, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted September 10, 2016 Good read. I think based on any pre existing conditions, most are taken into account and adjustments might be made pre or post op. But they still would be able to recieve the implant. In such a case, I would find a surgeon with a lot of experience who can work closely with the family and primary care physician. In my case. A few precautions were taken. One being that I wait a full 6 weeks before activation.
