Victoria
Hi. I was implanted in March of 2023 using Med El. Everything is going well - up until last week. I notice I am "hearing" a clicking sound in my implanted ear (with and without the processor connected/on. The sound is pretty consistent and soft for the most part. I have not had any injuries and I am not currently ill. Has anyone else experience clicking sounds in the implanted ear? If so, what is the fix? To make an appointment with the surgeon? HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted August 31 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 31 It could be tinnitus. But always good to get new things checked out. https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/tinnitus#:~:text=The symptoms of tinnitus can,be low or high pitched. Sakin
I've had a similar problem. I used to feel this kind of clicking sound when exposed to excessive sweat and humidity. I found the solution in using ear gear. Such sounds were heard because sweat and moisture affect the processor, cable or coil. I haven't heard such sounds since I started using the sleeve, and my device has never malfunctioned despite being exposed to sweat and moisture. However, if the clicking sounds occur even when the processor is off, then the problem may be elsewhere. Serena Metzler

Dianna
Hiya! Im thinking a call to dr. Might be in order if sound is exactly the same with processor on or off. My tinnitus went away completely, it was actually like birds in a birdcage like the zoo. Do you have a 6 month appointment? Enegra
Sometimes tinnitus might be triggered by some physical event, for example tension in the temple or jaw area.
