HearPeers Heroes Kay Posted November 2, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 2, 2017 I got my 2nd implant on Monday. My right implant went so good, I thought why not. well this one is no picnic. I am wondering if someone can give me some guidelines? I have quite a bit of pain in my jaw, and I get headaches and brief stabs of ear ache type pain. I am also very dizzy, using a cane. I think the dizziness is causing a bit of nausea. My dressing was on very tight and the headaches are less since it came off yesterday, now it's just by my temple . Can anyone give me a point to shoot for as to when this will get better? I'm pretty sure I got spoiled by the first one. That was a piece of cake ?I hope I didn't make a big mistake. Thanks for being here. HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted November 2, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 2, 2017 Hi @Kay I am so sorry to hear about your difficult recovery this time. Hang in there. HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted November 2, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 2, 2017 Well, try to rest as much as you can... Pain will go away, the vestibular apparatus will calm down... Try not to irritate your jaw with too solid food - allow yourself plenty of rest. Of course, dizziness is a major cause of feeling nauseous. Kimmay

I'm really sorry to hear about the physical pain you are experiencing right now. For many recipients, the common symptoms of pain settle down within a week or so after surgery. However each person is different, and we are unable to provide medical advice. I strongly recommend to stay in contact your medical specialist about how you are feeling as they will be able to provide you with specific medical advice along the way. Your MED-EL Representative can also offer further support - if you can send me through your contact details I will get them to get in touch with you to help. Wishing you all the best and thinking of you on your journey! Kind regards, Leigh HearPeers Support Team Kimmay

HearPeers Heroes Kay Posted November 10, 2017 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 10, 2017 November 30th. I was hoping for before thanksgiving but it's too soon. I'm curious about what that will be like. Everything this time is different.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted November 10, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 10, 2017 @Kay November 30th will be here before you know it. It may be better that it is not soon so that you can fully recover from your surgery. My Right and Left activations and early journeys were completely different from each other. Smile. However, in the end they both work fabulously and are very balanced. I look forward to reading about your journey.
HearPeers Heroes Kay Posted November 10, 2017 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted November 10, 2017 You're right about recovery. My head is still pretty sore where I'm supposing the processor will set. I'm just anxious and of course want everything yesterday! ? What was it Ivana says about patience? ?I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks Mary Beth and Kara of Canada
