OPUS 2XS

Hello,

Has anyone had experience with this new smaller model?  I'm trying to decide whether to get the 3 battery size or this smaller 2 battery size.  Any comments welcome.

Thank you!

Karen,

I have the 2 button size and I have the rechargeable size. I use the 2 button one for when I'm traveling and I'm unable

to have a charger on the airplane, long car ride etc. Depending on how your processor is programmed may determine your

battery life. For me, I get about 12-14 hours with the rechargeable batteries. For the 2 button ones, I get about 3 days (36 hours).

Hope I was able to help.

That was very helpful!  Thank you.  I'm going to go with the 2 button since it really will be for backup.  I'll just make sure I always have 4-6 batteries on hand at all times.  For the little that I think I will use it - seems to make sense going this direction.  Smile

Just for everyone's information, I was able to try both batteries on the demo, the 2 button and the rechargable. The rechargable and the 3 button battery size are the same. For people with issues with the neck or turning the head - I found the rechargable size to be a little to long for me, however I am getting both sizes (2 button and rechargeable). I personally felt better with the 2 button size but got the rechargable for when I am traveling and as back up (can't tell you how many times I've gone crazy trying to find hearing aid batteries in my house). But thought I'd share my insight for those that need it. Also, you can test out all the sizes at the intial audiology appointment (which I strongly recommend doing)!

Karen,

I also have the rechargeable, 2-battery and 3-battery OPUS 2 configurations. I use the rechargeable for daily use and the OPUS 2XS for extended day activities such as traveling, long day/night events, weekends or portability. Another plus of the 2XS you would not have to worry about keeping track of the rechargeable batteries as disposable batteries are more readily available and less expensive to replace the rechargeable if lost.  The 2XS is also more comfortable and lighter to wear, too.

Like Andrea, both of my batteries are comparable for length of charge life as hers. One drawback of the 2XS is that the direct connect feature is not provided -- wished it did though.

just quick inquiry ;

Are all small batteries from different manufactures OK to use with OPUS2?

We personally buy them from local audiologist, who insists that different brands may damage audio processor! Is it true ?

So,  we are now only buying those b , which suggested the specialist ( they are expensive!)

Would be Helpful any feedback

Thanks

We have a forum on battery life. We have decided that no batteries have a better life than the other. As long as you use the implant batteries or the specific type for the opus I am sure they will be fine. But check out the battery life forum. I'm new too. I have sonnet.

This is not true.

All main manufacturers produce batteries with similar longevity time. You can't make mistake by buying Duracell, Rayovac, Power One or ZeniPower - I would encourage you to look them around like E-bay (just carefully look for the best before date). You can really get a good price. I understand your audiologist but he or she also should understand that today each spoken word can be checked and tested the credibility of the source.

I have bought many times batteries over the internet and never got problematic case. I try to balance between the price and the reputation of the seller. ;)

Actually I have heard something about batteries making a product go bad. By corroding the battery comparment . But that's only if you plan to leave it for weeks, like long-term storage. If so remove the batteries. This is the case only then. We use our CIs daily. We depend on the batteries so we change them before this would be a problem.

No Kara - Zinc-Air batteries are encapsulated well. Problem was before 20 or 30 years where old shells were on the market.
